To rule,out Type 1, they usually do a GAD test to look for antibodies. An HbA1C test won't tell you what type you are. If you do need extra tests, make sure they do everything they want/need to do all in one go.
Yeah I pushed for a little more information on the testing for type 1 late on-set but he was hardly specific in the response but I did get a lot more done so thats ok and yeah i'll ask them to just do them all at the same time. I personally think he's passing over responsibility to the specialist, I get that impression. Gotta say however the diabetic nurse at my local GP's is fantastic, she has been really helpful
Been monitoring my bloods now for the last 2 weeks and I am happy to say that I am averaging now about 7.5. My GP also was very annoyed that I am having to wait 4-5 months to see a diabetic specialist so he contacted the booking office and I now have an appointment for the first week of March, they even gave me the choice of hospital.
