Hi there,
Sorry its been so long, but to be honest with you i have just been enjoying my life for a while and not let anything get me down

Anyway i was wondering if anybody else has the same issue with their GP
I went to pick up my perscription and was told that i will no loger be getting any testing strips or lancets anymore and i was not using insulin. My diabetes is controlled by tablets/diet so i no longer quailify.

If i want them i have to buy them myself at a cost of around £25.00

How long has this been going on?

People have been grumbling about that for a year or so. It depends on the Dr. Many of us get the test strips we need on prescription.

Ask a few chemists which Drs prescribe for T2s. Then change. If your Dr does not understand the need to test, he does not understand diabetes, & won't understand your condition.

If you are a T1, then you have a very strong case. Hopefully, presenting your GP with the NICE guidelines will suffice. However, these are ambiguous for T2s, who aren't on insulin. Many (possibly the majority?) of GPs are now refusing to prescribe strips to them. If that is the case then there isn't a lot that you can do other than moan in any available public forum, or possibly look for a more "diabetes friendly" GP!

Hi all,
I have been told that I can only test twice a week but in my job i have to do heavy lifting and a lot of walking delivering to customers.
My mmol can drop from 6 to 4 in just half an hour with just two deliverys.
As anyone can see at some point in the day i will be below 4mmol below safty levels.
I also drive a 7.5 tonne van so with a low mmol i am a danger on the road and could kill someone so i have to buy my own test strips and sharps so as to be safe.
National Health Service, NO more like DIY service.
