Can I use code free test strips with my true you Meter? I have a repeat prescription for 1 tub of 50 strips per month which is nowhere enough to test 6 times daily. I've just started low carb diet and need to learn how my bloods read before and after meals so I know what to eat. The branded true you strips are SO expensive I'm hoping to find something cheaper. Any info gratefully received, thanks.

My opinion is that testing 6 times daily is too much. I admire the thirst for knowledge but can you take it more slowly and correct one meal at a time. You have plenty of time to do this so just start with lunch and when you get that right move on to something else.

Thanks for your reply I tested 7.2 before dinner yesterday and 6.8 after? Today I tested 5.4 before (haven't eaten dinner yet) this is my second full day of low carb eating. My early morning fastig reading was still high 8.3 and I do admit I am an all or ..nothing kind of person and I'd still like to buy extra test strips cheaply!

Well that was a daft question, two weeks on and I know that no, you can't use Codefree strips with a TrueYou meter - doh! However my medical practice are prescribing extra strips for two months to allow me to test the effect different foods have on my blood. Once I'd explained why I needed more strips they were really helpful. Thumbs up

ask your GP what the cheapest strips are that would allow you to get more.......

then all you need is the meter that goes along with them.....;)

Good thinking!☺ on another thread someone posted that they wrote to a manufacturer and told them they had prescription for their strips and got sent a free meter.

pretty much.....

usually you don't need to write or anything, usually the manufacturers will supply the meters free as its the strips that make the money........and if you are lucky enough to get a prescription your on to a winner......
