can anyone tell me how long after meals are bs at there highest :?:

You should test 2 hours after your meal.

The highest point after a meal is usually at the one hour mark but it depends on what you've eaten. Generally people are advised to test two hours after a meal.

When they are at their highest depends on what you've eaten; for instance, a sugary food (which you shouldn't be eating!) or high carbhydrate food such as bread, will send them very high very quickly, while they won't rise as much or as quickly if you eat protein. That's very a simplistic description, but should do as a basis.

What we aim for when testing 2 hours after eating is to have our blood glucose readings as near as possible to what they were immediately before we ate. Or, at the very least, for a Type 2 less than 7.8. Some foods send us higher than others; these are carbohydrates.

By testing 2 hours after eating, I can tell if a carbohydrate food sends me too high. I can only eat these foods in small portions or maybe avoid them altogether. If a test after 2 hours reads very close to where I started, the food is okay for me to eat.

Hope this helps.

I measure at the two hour point, I used to do both in my paranoia days but my interest lies with how well my body deals with food not how high it peaks hence the post meal 2hr measure.

In general I test in the morning then 2hrs after every meal, then before bed, so approx 5 times daily.

I do the Morn & Night purely because its nice to know how your standing at the close and start of any given day.
