Testing Kit

When I was diagnosed about six years ago I was given a testing kit by the diabetic clinic in my local hospital. I now only attend my GP re my diabetes. I have noticed my machine is seizing up now and again and the lancet does not move to prick my finger. If I mess about with it for a while it works but I was thinking if this machine stops working, do I ask my GP for another one or do I buy it myself and if I have to buy it myself do I need to tell him so that he prescribes different strips ? I have a very good GP and no problem with getting strips. Thank you for any advice.

Second what Totsy says, if you tell the meter manufacturer that you test multiple times a day they will be more than happy to send you out a meter, they make their money in the sale of the test strips.
