Hi all, I have been diagnosed as pre diabetic a few days ago as blood was measuring 43! How or where do I get myself all the things needed to test blood levels at home? thanks

I got mine on Amazon. Read the reviews, especially the bad ones. Also check the price of the test strips. Consider buying extra test strips and lancets, you may only get a few.

Finally, consider whether you will need a control test solution, I had to order some after had the kit delivered today.

Hi. My GP gave me a blood glucose monitor. And the test strips and the Lancets I got on prescription . You can also get every thing else you may need on Amazon or in Boots. Hope this helps. Julie

Not everyone gets stressed using a meter as we are all different. Meters can provide so much positve feedback for those who want to use them.

Six years on I don't test everyday but I find it is still a valuable part of my tool kit to prevent type 2.

Thank you for all your help re: testing. I would like to test because I would like to learn how my body works best with which foods etc.
Just want to start a better way of eating as I thought my diet was good as loved cereals and fruit but didn’t eat breakfast! So a whole new way of eating now and wants to do,it 100%.
If I ask my doctor for testing kit will he think I’m crazy because I’m ‘pre’ or do you think it would be alright to ask?
So glad I found this site as you guys are fab. xx

Nothing wrong with asking gp and explaining how you want to use testing to reduce risk of developing full blown T2 - a few gps are forward looking enough to swallow the cost of test strips for a short time in order to help risk reduction but most are not, in which case get your own meter and use some focused testing to tweak your diet
