Who told you to cut down on eggs?

I suspect that @chris66 might have misunderstood one of my posts ...? I probably didn't express myself clearly, but corrected the misunderstanding in my next post.

True. They do seem to like giving their patients meds instead of sensible advice, but it's hard to blame them if they're used to patients who think that everything will get better with a pill.
By the way, do you have Netflix? If so, do watch 'The Magic Pill'. It's amazing.

Had poached eggs with tomatoes for lunch so possibly didn't do me much harm, my liver is a concern which is being investigated and unfortunately i'm still a bit of the mentality of Dr. knows best which im now starting to doubt, really think i need to go and sort out signing up to be given access to medical records so i can start asking questions. Eggs where mentioned earlier but think it was along the lines of them passing on what they were told but even they took little notice.

And I just had 3 scrambled with butter, cream, S+P and a little mustard and melted cheese on top. First meal of the day.

Don't have netflix and in defence of Dr.s in general in this country they do seem to be under a lot of pressure so probably much easier to give medication and leave it on file.

True, I'm not attacking them at all, and anyway the problem is the same in Denmark where lots of people don't even have a GP as there are too few of them. In the long run it would save a lot of money for the health care in both our countries, and save a lot of suffering for T2s if a Low Carb diet was promoted.

Yes for sure as things stand i'm not on medication for the diabetes, diabetic nurse told me she was going to e-mail Dr. saying i should be prescribed metformin after Dr. had told me they will try diet controlled first, and a Pharmacist told me they prefer to start newly diagnosed on diet controll for six weeks or so to see if they can controll it before prescribing medication so who should i listen to? and in the meantime none of them have gone into any detail of the benefits of a low carb diet.

I am of the opinion that if you can, it is better to stay off any drugs. Diet control, if achievable, is preferable to taking substances which are foreign to the body. I am aware that drugs are necessary for some people, but natures way should be explored first. Remember the Rolling Stones song - Running for the shelter of Mother's little helper can lead to unwanted consequences!

Much depends on the HbA1c at diagnosis. For those with a high HbA1c doctors will start with medication immediately. For those with low HbA1c levels are likely to be given 3 months to try diet and lifestyle changes with another HbA1c after 3 months. My HbA1c was 53 and medication was never mentioned.

Thanks again as you probably know i don't know for sure what the actual result was but assuming the nurse is a diabetic nurse would she not be better placed than a GP to decide if diet or medication would be best?

Impossible to say. It depends on the nurse, and it depends on the doctor.

Just thinking if the nurse specialised and the doctor was more general, one of lifes unanswerable questions i guess

They both look at the same guidelines, which actually say each person should be treated on an individual basis according to various factors. As this is subjective, different decisions can be made, but only after discussing and consulting with the patient. I wouldn't worry about it. You will be having a review in due course and if your HbA1c has deteriorated, you will be advised to have medication.

Hello again, well think it's been a good day with bloods etc tested three times today and has ranged between 5.7 lowest and 7'9 at highest jst wish i understood it all

Well, obviously you've done something very very right today! What did you eat over the day? Might be we can see a pattern while you're still groping in the dark with this carb thing.

Bran flakes with some avocardo for breakfast, poached egg and tomatoes at lunch, fish cauliflower rice with onions a few peas and a few carrotts for tea, need to keep it up i think.

Ah, the only real carby stuff was the bran flakes. Let me guess, the 7.9 was in the hours after breakfast?

Yes two hours after breakfast and was 7.8 after dinner

Peas and carrots both a bit carby maybe have one or the other not both.
