I have been a diabetic for 10 years My blood sugars were ok always between 8 and 4 untill i developed prostrate cancer they give me a drug to slow the cancer but it decreases my testosterone now my sugars are sky high and im back on insulin. Is the drug causing this ?

Hi and welcome.

I wonder if @Stallen is around. He may be able to answer your questions.
(and apologies stallen, if I have mistaken you for someone else!)

Re the low testosterone, I know that men and women are very different, but if low testosterone automatically caused high bg, then most women would automatically be diabetics. Suspect that, while hormones play an important role, it is much more complex than that.

Have you looked up your cancer drugs to see if raised bg is a side effect? There are many drugs where this is the case.

Hi. I wonder if the drug is Finasteride or Dutasteride. These do suppress certain forms of testosterone which is know to 'feed' prostate cancers. I was on one for a while for an enlarged prostate and didn't affect blood sugar by much. There are many cancer drugs of course, so I'm guessing.

Thanks @Brunneria @Rsjc63

when I started my Testosterone replacement therapy my endocrinologist did mention it would help lower my BGL, so testosterone does play a controlling part for men, since I started TRT back on Xmas eve last year, I've had pretty stable BGL before that I had random high and low readings most days, not forgetting that for me the LCHF diet also plays a large part in my BGL control and even with the best efforts whenever I'm ill be it a cold, infections and so on, the BGL readings do go up into double figures, but that said my last Hba1c in March this year was 41 previous in Dec 15 it was 52 the only two things that changed were (1) LCHF diet (2) TRT
