I received my diagnosis of T2 on 21 November 2013, after about a month of waiting for blood test results. The first HbA1c test read 115 and the follow up to double check read 112. The doctor apologised for the long wait and gave me the diagnosis over the phone. I was put on 3 x 500mg metformin per day.

In February my HbA1c was down to 52. The nurse agreed to reduce my med to 2 x 500 in March, by which time a was seriously into LCHF.

Today I got the result for my latest test ... 35!!!!! 35!!!!!! 35!!!!!!

A lot of exercise in the form of daily brisk walks. I've lost 5st 9lb since the beginning of September, 1 stone of which was before diagnosis and unintentional.

I still have 3 stone to lose to get to target BMI. I'm going to up my exercise and I think I would like to try without the meds.

I great be thank you and a sloppy kiss to everyone here. I could not have done it without all the advice I've read here. And of course this is the beginning, not the end.

Thank you so so so so much!!!!

Woo hoo!! That is an excellent result. Well done! Your figures are similar to mine - diagnosis end Dec 106. Feb 79. End Apr 47. No meds for me at the mo. I agree that exercise is definitely the key, along with LCHF. 3.5 stone off for me - like you one stone of that prior to diagnosis without even trying. 12lbs to target BMI.
Your 35 gives me hope that I can get to non diabetic levels by next blood test.
I agree that this forum is an absolute godsend with so many helpful souls giving out information and advice and helping with keeping folk on track. Once again, many congrats on your superb result debbie

And your story gives me hope too because it makes me believe I can control without the metformin. I hope the doctor agrees.
Well done to you!!
