    Dear all,
Some of you may recall I was diagnosed in April after an awful DKA. My hbac was 103! And to top it off was off to north Africa a couple of weeks after for 3 months.

I basically was completely overwhelmed and over the last few months have almost solely relied on this forum for info and advise. You guys have been completely amazing. I mainly lurk and read every single day !!
So I back I've had bloods and my hbac is now 46 !!!! So happy with this.

Anyone new, these are the 4 best things for me
    1. Freestyle libre (self funded!(
    2. This forum
3.the book think like a pancreas
    4. The book carbs and cals

Thanks to all of you. The type 1 forum is amazing !!!

What did you do to lower your HBA1C so much? How did you change your diet?

Well I did change my diet a bit. Mainly cut back on junk food and snacking.
I think the main thing was keeping GB on top of blood glucose levels using the libre. Because I was continually checking my levels I adjusted insulin accordingly. So basically getting amounts of insulin right to keep levels in range .

I also increased my activity levels from zero to walking about 20 mins per day. I think that made a difference too

Also I'm super pleased because I met my consultant today for the first time, and asked about getting the libre on my nhs prescription. I used info I had read on here to back up my case and she said she'd fax my gp requesting this. I'm really really grateful once again to the info I've been able to get on this forum !!!!
