I dont do instagram, but is it safe to assume that the responses of a non-diabetic are not going to be the same as for a diabetic? I have googled her book, and it doesnt mention its for diabetics. She's posts everything up on Instagram

She wears a CGM then does these type of experiments, she's not diabetic btw

I can understand the feeling of being overwhelmed by fat and protein. But that’s why some nights I just have nice bowl of vegetable curry, just with low carb vegetables. I look forward to hearing how you get on but I suspect it won’t make much difference. But if you are having small amounts of carb, IF, it is being offset By eating fibre first, is that bad? I understand that keto is the way forward, and it did great things for my readings, but, to me, i personally, feel keto, is unnatural to my body. I felt I was eating too much full fat an dairy, don’t get me wrong, I know the science works. But I just felt overwhelmed with protein and fat . I know it works, but it feels unhealthy. I have felt much better eating a cider vinegar salad before meals, and I suppose really, it suppresses your appetite for the main meal. I’m going to try it anyway, and I will post results in a few months.
Why? My non diabetics here are fine with friesI just wanted to comment on the fries...can’t be good for anyone diabetes or no diabetes...
Thanks, I’m going to try it, because I am intrigued, by what she is saying. I understand that it is not scientific, but, well let’s see.I can understand the feeling of being overwhelmed by fat and protein. But that’s why some nights I just have nice bowl of vegetable curry, just with low carb vegetables. I look forward to hearing how you get on but I suspect it won’t make much difference.
Yes I did go off on a tangent. One thing I have learned is eating more carbs , makes you hungrier. But all protein and fat makes me feel depressed. I need a balance.this is why I’m going to try this. She is acting like she has found something. But as I said French and lots of Italians eat this way. The “degustation’, first salad, then meat and fats, then carbs. I am not advocating this, I am interested in a way a eating that has been around for centuries. It’s a layman experiment, keto is not for me, it will be interesting to see what happens. I suspect myself that the salad is not so much lowering your glucose, probably if you eat salad then fats and protein, then carbs, you are going to eat less carbs, because you are full.anyway, why not, it will be interesting to see what happens.I never went actually keto, just very low carb (20gms to 40gms of carbs per day) so for example I can eat berries and 90% cocoa chocolate) without going over the 40gms of carbs since even a whole 100gm bar of 90% Lindt is just 14gms of carbs. I have no experience of eating food types in specific order etc, just of low carb and time restricted eating (which has worked for thousands in the UK alone).
Since keto got you into pre-diabetic blood glucose levels I'm surprised that you didn't just relax that a little in order to make it more sustainable rather than going off at a tangent.
Good luck with your experiment.
It “apparently “ stops the carbs being absorbed so quickly. I am as sceptical as well, but I am going to try it and give honest results. No harm in that. It is not being backed by hard science, but it coul be interesting. How does eating fibre first offset the carbs
Thankyou, I’m not talking having chips with everything lol, maybe a tiny bit that gives you a reason to eat, but not enough to start cravings for carbs.i understand that keto works for a lot of people, I have an omelette many mornings and enjoy it, but I’m saying, for me I cannot sustain. I understand that everyone is different. A newly diagnosed vs somebody with neuropathy /retinopathy is a different ballgame..@Garrick I can relate to your issue regarding high fat, protein and Keto. I’m struggling with a similar issue. I won’t bore you with my digestive issues. But I must say having protein with every meal and low carb has certainly helped me lower my blood sugars. If you love salad and it suits you all you need is to just add some protein. Just bear in mind that amount of protein and what is low carb varies from person to person. Part of being overwhelmed is to do with starting something all over again and it all seems too much at once mentally and for our digestive system. Especially if we have suceeded before It seems challenging even more so! I’m still making changes 4 months in that’s personal to me but draw on the experiences of folks on the forum - adjusting and tweaking my meals that work for me and I do check my meter.
Best of luck.
Yes maybeWhat you are doing is having long, slow higher than normal levels for a long time, instead of spikes. All that is happening is that the carb load is being spread to give a false sense of lower 24/7 blood sugar levels. Your body is still reacting the same way to carbs, just for longer. I don't see how this really helps. It just disguises the carb processing problem.
It apparently causes a scenario whereby, carbs are not processed straight away, so the spike is less, because the fibre are being processed first. I am sceptical , but I’m going to try.How does eating fibre first offset the carbs
