Hi,
I looked up an article debunking the Inuit diet claim. They did eat carbs it claimed.
It lacked references and was written by a vegan!

Sensible to not trust militant vegans.. Especially when they're 'advising' HMG. It's not exactly a sustainable diet. But here's an old study I found:-

From 1928, where they could starve Inuit without falling foul of ethics committees.. That suggests low/no ketosis and better fat digestion, and possibly getting carbs via glycogen as a lot of the meat was eaten raw or boiled. I guess it shows it's something that's been studied for a long time!
 
Are you talking severe calorie restricted keto diets or regular keto diets? Eating keto doesn't really make you lose LBM at least not to the extent that starvation does.. if at all.

I’m joining in the discussion a bit late and responding to @AdamJames too. Have been following avidly from the sidelines - being at work all day does get in the way of more active participation on here!!

Last night I was browsing through my food and exercise recording app - goes back about a year. Really interesting. At the peak of my weight loss and BG reductions last summer and autumn, I was eating way less - measured in calories, fat and protein (carbs have been steadily under 20g a day apart from the odd aberration) than I am now. I was also using OMAD more often (that has got harder as my weight normalised), However I am still able to lose slowly/maintain weight eating more food, which suggests that my metabolic rate has improved on a Keto/fasting regime.

Editing to say that the increase in food intake hasn’t really been conscious - kind of evolved.
