The petrol station test

Today I sort of got caught out as both of the things in my packed lunch needed cutlery and I was doing a couple of onsite calls back to back. I was feeling a bit low so had a few swigs of Lucozade (which I keep in the car) and diverted to a petrol station to try and find something more substantial.

I ended up buying a Dairylee Dipper - which was 13g of disgustingness..

So what would you, whilst low-carbing, pick up in a petrol station? This wasn't a mini M&S, just a rural independent outlet selling confectionary, crisps and fizzy drinks mainly.

If I am really hungry then I will often pick up one of those 'chicken snack' pack things, they come in all sorts of 'flavours' and generally are like 3g for a packet. Then again I have to be really hungry!

I would have eaten the food with my fingers, or tipped the container so I could drink the contents. Class all the way me!

Yes. I eat them sometimes too. I'm not sure what part of the chicken they are made from, but they aren't very nice. I also look out for pepperami or pork scratchings, or if the kids are in the car, I might have one finger of a dark kit-kat.

Snackability isn't one of the strengths of a low-carb diet.

In some service stations you get the hot food bit, where you can microwave up a disgusting burger. I get one, ditch the bun and eat the burger. I've also had a sausage roll from the chiller and peeled off the pastry. Nuts are always handy.
