Good stuff and keep coping. Don't forget to kick the mutt in the ribs - with boots on.Thanks Fene48
The dog still ducks out and nips at the ankles occasionally but I feel with the weight-loss and BG control I am now able to cop so much better
Cheers
I had a look at the link but was not to impressed with their assertion that T2 is all down to life style choices and that the people taking part where not chosen by T2 diabetes but that they chose it.
I have to agree with the programme. T2 may not be all down to lifestyle for a minority but I have yet to meet a single person whose T2 wasn't caused by lifestyle and dietary choices. I work as a PT and specialise in working with diabetics. In 26 years of doing this I haven't come across one person who didn't actively encourage the development of their T2.
You never know, eventually you could develop diabetes yourself so that would presumably make it one.I have to agree with the programme. I am assuming its a Physical Trainer.Err, this is probably a stupid question - what's a PT?
I'mWhat about Dr Tim Noakes then? Marathon runner following advised 'Prudent Diet' for 30 years. While ever the official agencies are recommending excessive carbohydrates, as they are, how can you blame the individuals who are following these guidelines for their illness? Not everybody has the time / ability / understanding to do all the hours of research that some of us do. The official guidelines, promoted by every doctor, endocrinologist, diabetic nurse, dietician, care worker, should be the right ones. School meals and hospital food should be based on real whole food and low carb. Hospitals should not have MacDonalds and KFCs inside them, schools should not have tuck shops.
Of course you have a limited knowledge base.Contrary to what is implied here, I don't have a limited knowledge base. After 26 years of "putting my money where my mouth is" and a MSc in exercise science along with numerous other nutrition qualifications (yes, not a dietician because they are too restricted in their ability to help people) and 'down on the ground' involvement with this, I stand by what I say. It always makes people feel better to have something to blame (oh it's my hormones) and this may be true for a small minority but this is by and large a self inflicted affliction. Thank god there are people now who are willing to look beyond 'accepted' knowledge and try to find something that works and I'm glad that an influential body like diabetes UK are promoting a LCHF lifestyle.
I do sometimes it find it hard when a predjudiced, judgemental person butts in, and when they also haven't the faintest idea about diabetes and what it's like to battle it, nor other hormonal issues.can all of us participating in this thread not engage in painting with paint brushes that might not paint a true picture
and please -also a bit of there but for the grace of God go I would be appreciated.

Not saying that at all. I agree that people should get the right advice from official guidelines however, I haven't come across anyone following 'Prudent Diet' advice to have T2. That obviously doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. The point I was making was that every single client I've had in 26 years with T2 has overdone the carbs and didn't have appropriate activity levels. The problem is that self report and self assessment is very inaccurate and these clients were grossly under reporting and underestimating the junk they were putting into their bodies.

In 26 years of doing this I haven't come across one person who didn't actively encourage the development of their T2.
