What about Dr Tim Noakes then? Marathon runner following advised 'Prudent Diet' for 30 years. While ever the official agencies are recommending excessive carbohydrates, as they are, how can you blame the individuals who are following these guidelines for their illness? Not everybody has the time / ability / understanding to do all the hours of research that some of us do. The official guidelines, promoted by every doctor, endocrinologist, diabetic nurse, dietician, care worker, should be the right ones. School meals and hospital food should be based on real whole food and low carb. Hospitals should not have MacDonalds and KFCs inside them, schools should not have tuck shops. Mothers should not be told to wean their babies onto pure carbohydrates. Cereals should not be labelled Heart Healthy, Frankenstein foods (like the dreadful cholesterol lowering spreads) should have a public health warning. Where do you stop?
