I'm pretty certain "any third parties" isn't totally accurate, but that's my interpretation of the T&Cs.

If I google my user name, loads come up, but not related to me, or from here.
In fact, I mentioned "any third parties Admin sees fit". Is that not correct?

I interpreted this "branded pages on third party platforms (such as Facebook or YouTube)" as being places such as Facebook and YouTube have an account. I'm not a contract lawyer, so my interpretation could be wrong and yours correct.

I'm curious why you specifically won't be posting any further recipes. Are you considering a book, or something?

No, that was just an example, as I was just horrified to see the last recipe I posted on DCUK appear on Facebook, with a nice, helpful link direct to my post.
I have chosen not to share my T2 diagnosis with anyone other than my husband, my 2 adult children and a couple of trusted friends, and it would now be very easy for anyone I knew on Facebook to put two and two together and work it out.
I had read the T&Cs, but I guess I was just naive in thinking that material I posted on here would not be attributed to me and quoted verbatim elsewhere.

This site isn't "Hogwarts" anyone with or without a "wand" can find it... ;)
I think you're missing the point.
Of course it's a public site and can easily be found. That's how WE all got here, after all! But we were specifically looking for help with - in most cases - a diagnosis which was causing us distress. We didn't happen upon this site through casual browsing and decide to have a look through it for social entertainment. And we all make a conscious decision to post on here.
I can't speak for anyone else, but my issue relates to the fact that material I have created specifically for this website has been lifted verbatim, without my knowledge or consent, and placed on an open, poorly regulated forum which is not moderated and upon which I would never have chosen to display it. Particularly as I already have a presence and followers on that forum with whom I have deliberately not chosen to share my T2 diagnosis.
And that is without even beginning to consider the duty of care which must surely lie with the administrators of this site in protecting members who are vulnerable under-18s, or those with mental health issues.
Yes, I've read the T&Cs and I'm not asking for my posts not to be used elsewhere. I'm simply asking for the courtesy of a heads-up that it's going to happen, and for my details not to be accessible through it. Both requests could be easily managed and don't seem unreasonable.

@debrasue , I imagine the incidence of non-diabetic and non-diabetes related viewers of the site are likely increased due to and increased interest in reduced carb eating, eating full fat, the 8 week sugar diet, 5:2 and intermittent fasting activity. There have been popular and well populated threads on all of these topics.

Personally, I have never or would never us a photograph of myself or anything that could be reliably identified as uniquely me or a possession of mine as an avatar. Perhaps I am more cautious than most, but it's how I am.
So is this a diabetic site ? or a dieters site , interesting , both so different .. Diabetes diet, whatever that maybe to individuals needs , and someone using a diet without diabetes are miles apart . Many sites for all groups .. But this duck is for diabetes is it not ..

.... But isn't DCUK a public forum wheather it's accessed via FB or not. The threads can be found...
FB or Twitter you can of course be a member there without all the polices and moderating I believe ..without being a member here .. ;)
Different rules . Different approaches ..
So my polite scream is when were the last lot of terms and conditions reviewed ... That's for @Administrator
There were others on the cheese cake thread mentioned . With their photo avatars .. I dont mean @debrasue
But I did see the cheese cake thread from general chat ... It came on my news feed ...
You only have to give a like on FB to get the information .. That's a follower though not a member ... (Followers can say what they wish ) with regards the content shared on here ...
If you don't use FB or tweeter this part of what is being screamed about ...
Right back to the weekend :)

Happy Sunday all ...

Whilst this is a site, primarily for the support of diabetics and those associated with them, if you just try Dr Goole and put in a couple of those examples, I found that when I Googled "8-week blood sugar diet", and "intermittent fasting for weight loss", this site featured on the front page. My guess is if I had added forum or discussion to those, it might have been close to the top of the results returned.

As I understand it, the site welcomes anyone who can genuinely find support with a common problem.

These day, I must admit I am sometimes bewildered by the focus new members place on weight loss, rather than reducing worrying blood scores, but some of the messaging out there, both from professionals and the pres/tv is that weight is critical in many medical conditions and diabetes always features new to if not at the top of those lists.

I personally think that many companies, if not all, deliberately use long winded text in their terms and conditions. Many are in double dutch, plain simple English would be acceptable
I found this and it's great :)

The author has a fair point, especially about Apple products. The average End User Licence Agreement, if read in its entirety, far exceeds the average battery life of the iPhone!! :banghead:

Should we now begin all of our posts with something along the lines of "this post is the intellectual property of the author/poster & may not be reproduced or circulated without prior permission"?

Or perhaps not post at all, to be on the safe side! :(
