They seem to have gone back at our hospital

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I was diagnosed about 10 years ago, simply on my blood glucose and HbA1c.
This week I went to the blood suckers preliminary to my annual review next week. There on the walls were posters about the OGTT.
They seem to have gone back to using it. I was told it isn't necessary. As I was told I don't need to see the diabetes clinic and I'm constantly told I don't need to self monitor.

OGTT have never been stopped. Obviously being diagnosed you would have no need to know. But if you read the forums you will see people suspected of type 2 diabetes are given an OGTT.
 
Nope the OGTT or has I know it the GTT hasn't been stopped at all, I've know that they have changed it slightly and it doesn't involve as many blood tests/urine samples I my original one in 1989, as my nieces and my sisters have automatically get one when they fall pregnant due to my diabetes, only one in the family though...

And I very much suspect that my daughter will be booked in for one when she see's her midwife for the first time of Tuesday :shock:
 
I have never had a GGT, ever.

I was diagnosed on the results of two Hba1c and fasting "finger prick" tests.

In the interest of best possible patient care, my Drs have halved our prescriptions for test strips.
 
I never had a GTT although I was actually in hospital when diagnosed. When I returned home the diabetic nurse from the surgery called to see me. (that was 4 years ago) The hospital said as I was over 70 I needed to test regularly. Twelve months ago the surgery said I dont need to test as I am on diet and exercise. I was very poorly 3 weeks ago with a chest virus and the nurse I had to see for the virus( I was told on the phone I would not be seen by a doctor) gave euromythicin which made me very ill, I still didnt qualify to see a doctor so had to revert to Benylin and a Vick nose spray. The nurse did let me have a few test strips although she said my records said I dont need them. I think the NHS has definitely gone backwaqrds.
