Think I'm doing okay ???..

Well that’s a awesome list to choose from.
You are doing well.
Meat with a bit of butter and some green beens or cauliflower or broccoli and a bit of salt and your set.
No need to get too fancy.
That is what I have been eating..but after a few weeks its starting to pall..

Yes. Sorry. I was merely trying to promote the idea that you don’t need to be a cook. I’m certainly not. I just get creative and chuck stuff together. As long as the ingredients are all natural then you can’t go wrong. But in any case it was merely friendly motivation.
Not a problem Jim and I appreciate what you meant. I find it frustrating that I cant but the easiest recipe seems to become Everest for me.

For me its sensory eg smell, texture but taste, I can tell at the slightest whether my body is going to rebel.

I eat Pork, Chicken Beef, Lamb. White Fish. 97% sausages. Eggs. Bacon. Cheddar Cheese only. Anchor Butter only.

Eat Broccoli, Cauliflower....like garden peas but they're carb heavy. Cant abide carrots. Swede okay. Broad beans no, runners yes.

Yogurt (breakfast) Strawberries, Raspberries. Occasional satsuma.

Not into cereals, nuts, seeds. Don't enjoy rice or pasta. Ate only boiled, mashed or chips when it comes to potatoes.

Like gravy but not other sauces. Mushrooms are okay. Tomatoes fried or in salads only.

That's about it...for the moment.
That's a pretty good list! You like most meat which is good :) not liking pasta and rice is good too, cauliflower is very versatile but it depends if you can eat they way it's cooked. Google low carb cauliflower recipes and see if there's anything you could enjoy and your wife could help you make :)

So for your protein - any meat you like you can roast, you can fry or grill pork chops, lamb chops, chicken breast, making sure you season everything well with salt and pepper. If you don't mind your food mixed (my son doesn't like any of his food touching) you can make casseroles and stews with the meat and veg you like. Yes peas are carb heavy but a small portion tested with your meter may be fine. Same with a couple of golf ball sized New potatoes in their skins (if you can tolerate the texture) try them and test to see how your blood sugars do.

Grilled white fish with melted butter or baked in the oven is good. Sausage bacon, egg, grilled tomato make a great meal any time of day

Eating berries with full fat plain yoghurt is great any time too, just be careful on the portion size,
Do you like omelette? There's lots you can do with an omelette- cheddar cheese

Do you try new foods at all? My son sometimes will but only tiny tiny amount say half a teaspoon full along side other foods - sometimes once he's had it a few times he adds it to his list :)

Hope I've helped somewhat :)

Get your other half to Google keto chocolate mug cake.

The recipe is enough to split into 2 ramekins and serve with double cream.

I have seen variations on the internet.

Thank you yes.

I think I do most of that already. I'm okay with stews although of course, it depends what vegetable combination is in it.

I only have three or four strawberries, not a punnet (sadly)

Yes I showed her that the other night. Will have to look it up again. Thanks.

Mmmm..chocolate.

That erythritol...whatever its called, stuff, is absolutely vile.
I am not a huge fan of sweeteners either! I can't use Stevia because malt triggers migraines in husband. I won't have xylitol in the house as it is highly toxic to dogs. There is monkfruit which I have but not tried yet. You just have to find the one that suits you.

Patrick, do you have the copymethat app? You can use it to store interesting recipes you find on line with just a click. I used to lose recipes and I am sorted now! I have it on my phone and on the pc. It keeps the link to the website as well.

I like Morrisons own but it has...sucralose in it...which is the only thing that actually tastes like sugar.

No, I have not heard of that> I will investigate. Thank you.

Agree on the erythritol. I just tried to make keto mug cake for the first time, didn't have half the ingredients, so decided to wing it and forgot to put sweetener in... It was gross, but that was my fault. But thankfully I still have some lindt 85% in the fridge to appease the tastebuds, haha.

Yeah, baking is not my thing.

I just found it...weird. I put some in my tea and got a strange, almost watered down tea with an odd after taste. Deeply unpleasant and rather expensive to say the least.

The aftertaste is horrid, and it blew the taste of my weird little teas and chais... I used to put 5 spoons of sugar in my tea, coffee and espresso, so this is a shift in gears! Now I take my tea and coffee without sweeteners. (The others either tastes horrible too, or they killed my gut bacteria... Which was exceedingly unpleasant, so careful with that stuff!). I found it alright in my eggs with cinnamon, but discovered the other day I'm fine without it in it too... Getting used to a sugarless life, I guess. Because you're right, for something they're charging its weight in gold for, it should taste better!

I haven't tried monksfruit yet, it's not available here in the Netherlands far as I know... But keeping an eye out. It's supposed to get approved sooner or later.

As was said above, peas in small portions, and 2 new potatoes with plenty of butter (or 2 small roast potatoes) may be OK for you. They are for me, which is a good thing in my case because, like you, I don't eat vegetables very often apart from mushrooms. I eat tons and tons of mushrooms fried in butter. You just need to use your meter to test these foods out. If eating something carb heavy, portion control is essential along with testing.
