This is weird!

I'm very happy with the other excellent posts about diabetes and do not feel the need to take your clique advice and go elsewhere. As a member of a diabetes community I cherish relevant postings about diabetes.
@StephenT
I notice you are new to posting.

Would like to say 'welcome' and I think you would be wise to check the forum rules as it appears you entered the conversation to 'belittle' the original poster, and that is not allowed on here.

Why not start again with the introductions section, or ask a specific question you feel is relevant to your diabetes.

WWI was the time scientists were actively discovering insulin, something very important to diabetics dependent on it. Is the discovery of insulin a lesser achievement than a book that meandered back to a previous owner?

Ok, so start a thread. That sounds like something folks would like to discuss, and learn more about.

We don't need to respond to threads that are not to our taste.

Unless, of course, we are trying to derail the thread. Surely that is not your motive?

To return to the topic.

@nosher8355
I really liked your post.
I also like that your sons are getting to know and respect their heritage.
They should be rightly proud of their grandfather, and their dad.

If I want to read about your heart warming 'How weird is that?' on the diabetes forum I expect it to be related to diabetes..

You didn't HAVE to read it, much less write that response. VERY VERY ordinary behaviour. Run along now ....

AND
Long may we all enjoy chatting in here. There are plenty of other places on forum for people to post if they don't feel sociable.

Dear @StephenT
I apologise to you if you believe I have broken forum rules, and if so, could you report me and this thread can be locked or erased.
Do you follow our football thread? Do you follow the fitness threads? Perchance to dream? Christmas or new year threads? Room101? Etc?
Do you like the contributors advice given by the same people who posted on this thread? Have you educated yourself by these posters experiences?
The 'legend' thread is a bit OTT. But because of my experiences with misdiagnosis and dietary control, I have been lucky and humble enough to contribute to trying to help people who are desperately looking for answers on this forum.
The posters who are defending me are I believe friends and colleagues and have helped me understand my condition. Without this forum I would be in a very dark place or not here at all!!
If we didn't have room for general things like people's experiences in their diabetic life then this would be a significantly less boring site than it is today.
Have a go on the word association games or if your that inclined start your own thread on something that interests you. Are you a cat or dog person? Tell us about your family, has anyone of them famous or got a really fascinating job?
The list is endless.

Please have a think about what you are posting as the same posters are probably the ones who will reply to your questions, that's if they haven't already.
Please keep posting as different views are always welcome on here.

Best wishes

Happy New Year

Nosher

Ps that WWII site is nowhere near as good as this one!!

Stephen - you will find people are making friends on this forum. Along with diabetes & related discussions we talk to each other. It helps keep us positive. If you are not interested in a particular thread - ignore it. There's plenty of discussion that will help you - unless you are a troll.

Might well have wasted your words on someone so insensitive Nosher. Respect your comments nonethless Mike

It's called logic response and I can't go down to his level!!

Personal remarks are not tolerated or permitted on the forum, please take the time to read the forum rules.

Thank you

Turning into a right ding dong over nothing...I am not a robot and reckon this forum would lose it's edge if nothing else than diabetes related posts were allowed. This is a general chat section so members can talk about what they like - end of...and sarcastic remarks don't help either. Come to think of it I had a stamp album and gave it to the church boot sale and guess what, my nephew bought it and didn't know it was mine...how weird.

And the Oscar goes to....
For ruining a good bit of banter
Stephen T
Now that is sarcasm...and I am good at it but it is not my cup of tea. Sad to see such posts on Hogmanay.
Happy New Year to the rest of the humans on the forum.

Lets all get back on track - please don't further encourage this negative poster .

@nosher8355 I enjoyed this too. It reminded me of something that happened to me.

My grandfather gave me a silver plated money box that took sixpences only. A few years later (when decimalisation came in ) my Dad sold it and gave me the money for it. Many years later I was looking round an antiques shop with my sons, having forgotten all about this money box....and there it was. I was so shocked to see one like it. I picked it up and studied it and realised it wasn't one like it.....it was the same one. There were the many scrapes and scratches that I remembered, all of them. It felt really odd but nice at the same time.
