Three Day Fast

ive tested my key tones many times times never found any (apart from the hospital find them at diagnosis) I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong lol but heyho i seem to be doing ok without them

I've occasionally tested with blood testing strips as my meter is compatible for both - highest I've ever had is 3.0 though usually I'm between 0.3-1.5. I don't see the point in testing all the time. I've never tested with the ketostix, so no idea about those.

If it's purely to test ketosis for dieting purposes (as opposed to being Type 1 and testing because of DKA), it depends on how obsessive you want to be about it really. Most people under 50g carbs a day are likely to be in ketosis.
I'm low carving. Was having between 50 and 75g with odd foray up to 90g. I stopped my 500mg metformin a week ago so I want to keep to 50g or less. I'm not that obsessive about testing kerosine if I don't need to.
Thanks for the information :-)

I have a comprehensive guidebook to the Ketogenic diet, as a computer PDF file. If you (or anybody) are/is interested then I'd be happy to e-mail it. The book is available on Amazon but very expensive. It goes into a lot of detail.

Regards,
Antony
That's very kind of you. On reflection I think I'll stick to under 50g carbs for now. Its a busy time at work at the moment and I can't do justice to the reading... But I know where to come if I want to in future. Thanks again :-)
