thrush testing

Hi,

Have been a type 2 diabetic for 2 years now and recently have lapsed in my control of my blood levels :| It all came to ahead recently with some personal issues , mainly in recent months my girlfriend has suffered with thrush, which occured after we had sex. It did occur previously that she would suffer with it before i was diagnosed and disappeared until recently.

I show no physical symptoms i.e rash etc but had been weeing a lot in the night , strong coloured wee and occasional "dribble" . Sadly on my part i didnt think i was the cause , but having read on here i am sure i am.

I have been keeping regular checks on my levels recently and all are back at a healthy level , between 6 and 9 .. What concerns me is as i show no actual sypmtoms is how do i check i am clear of the thrush ? I have applied Canesten regularly for several days (over a week) and my wee is now clear and i am not getting up in the night .

if both yourself and your partner use medication for thrush and sustain from sex while using the medication you should both be clear if showing no symptoms, try getting your bloods lower and u shouldnt keep getting it :D
 
Not sure about males, but there is a home test kit for females.. Vianalyse. I suppose to be sure you would have to ask the chemist.

I would get this checked out by your gp. A simple urine test is all it will take, and perhaps your doctor can give you something stronger on prescription.

Booked in for a SATURDAY?? My... now that is what I call service. I really cannot remember the last time our medical centre opened on a Saturday, and to have a Dr on duty too .. :shock: ..well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs :lol:

I'm glad you decided to get checked out properly .. better for peace of mind all round.
 
Your not alone there, normally its a week if i'm lucky and at the most incovnenient time :? Dont spend to long at the foot of the stairs :D
 
not quite new , more on Diabetes and Thrush

I recently posted requesting some info on male thrush.

Since then , i have maintained my sugar levels (though yet to have my next hbac test) .

I would like to give a bit off background, back in 2007 prior to my diagnosis with Diabetes , my girlfriend had intermittent cases of Thrush, which always occured two or three days after sex. Then i had a mini stroke and high blood pressure from which i was diagnosed with Diabetes (lucky me ). I very quickly got my levels under control, and the Thrush never appeared again , until recently. After a three or four re occurences , and having after letting my testing slide :? i had high sugar levels (i was in the 12's and 14's) i went to my GP (as per my earlier post ) and was given some tablets.

I have maintained my levels and am regularly between 4 and 7 before and after meals, sadly Thrush has reappeared. I am going to see my GP again, but i am at my witts end, i dont have any symptoms myself but 2 days after having sex my poor girlfriend is suffering again, is really having a traumatic effect on both of us.

Has anyone any suggestions at all, as to how i can test or check i have it and how to clear it ?

Perhaps your girlriend could get her blood glucose levels checked?

Personally I think you should both abstain and go and get checked out together. It is just being passed backwards and forwards.

I don't know a great deal about this subject, but I am sure it is important that both of you receive the treatment at the same time to stop cross-infection.
