Very new here, but am wondering if anyone else has had the symptoms. Saw another post about shortness of breath, however mine is different.

I do suffer from anxiety, but i dont think thats what is causing this.

Since i've switched to novolog, i've noticed it worsen. When i'm getting ready to fall asleep at night, i get a tightness in my throat, and it is difficult to breathe. Sleeping is difficult and only some of the time my BG is high.. im going to talk to my doctor about it, im just looking to see im not the only one...

Late onset Type 1. Diagnosed in May 2017.

Do you have an appointment very soon @natariimei?

Get emergency medical help if you have:

  • trouble breathing, shortness of breath, fast heartbeat, swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, sweating, extreme drowsiness, dizziness, or confusion.

Taken from:

https://www.novolog.com/type-1-diabetes.html

There may be many reasons for your symptoms, and it's possibly not related to your bolus insulin. But if in doubt, get checked out. Especially given your symptoms presented after you switched to this insulin.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

I dont have an appointment, but my doctors are very good at conversing with me. I plan to call them tomorrow. I didnt know that switching insulins could cause this. I'm in the US (joined the UK forum because you guys are pretty awesome) so i think it'll have to wait until the morning?

I wouldn't be hanging around, if I were in your shoes I'd be going to A&E or requesting an emergency appointment.

Although this is a ".co.uk" domain, we're a global diabetes forum:) We've a lot of bright and helpful members too, so it's worth sticking around. If not to learn, then to pass on what you know!

This part is what sucks about having anxiety. I cant justify going to the emergency room.
It's up to you @natariimei, but I'm a pessimist and always look at the worst case scenario - not to alarm or scaremonger you like. There's nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution and I am a firm believer in "better safe than sorry".

I understand attending the Emergency Room may not be easy with an anxiety disorder, but maybe you could arrange for someone to go with you if it makes you feel more at ease?

Hi @natariimei Totally agree with Grantgam - you need to get an urgent medical appointment, particularly as it's affecting your sleep, I know you're suffering the anxiety but putting your health first is important, please let us know how you get on ? x

No worries @natariimei - hope you get this sorted, it's something a medical professional will need to review with you, but sleeping with this added worry is not going to help your anxiety so the sooner you get some support the better, take care hun.

I called my primary care this morning, they set me up an appointment to see them. I think they are going to test me for asthma? My appointment is a week from today (due to scheduling issues.) so heres to hoping i dont have any issues until then.

I ended up going to the emergency room yesterday and was diagnosed with tonsilitis. I feel silly.
