I did my cannula change at lunch and all seemed fine. Actually had a bad hypo early evening and stupidly over ate a load of Terrys segsations (not like me).
Anyway almost 2 hours later had shot up to 17 (VERY high for me) and thought it was the chocolate. Did a correction plus temp basal and waited 40 minutes. No BG change. Waited an hour and still no change. Put a tiny amount more insulin through and waited another 30 minutes as I thought the high might be resisting the insulin. BG had risen to 18. Decided I'd had enough as late so injected correction dose and pulled set. Looked at cannula and seemed fine but then looked down at site and it was gushing blood. Reconnected to old site for overnight.
My question is did I wait too long? With BG that high does it take longer to drop or should I have realised sooner? Not normally in this situation so want to be sure I deal with it as effectively as possible.
Now got to test through the night as BG dropping (now at 11.7) and worried some insulin might suddenly kick in from the set on top of injection.
