Time off for Diabetic appointments

Hi,

I'm of working age living with Diabetes since 2019. I've recently been called into see the diabetic nurse with Victoza (AKA Liraglutide) going out of stock.
Bit extreme as lots of the injections seem to be going out of stock anywhere so I fear I have a wasted appointment coming up.

Just wanted to check does time off for appointments relating to diabetes have to be allowed in an employment sense? I remember speaking to the Occupational Health Advisor in one of my old jobs and they couldn't believe I use to be forced to take holiday to go to the appointments.

In my situation, being on Liraglutide I guess they could say it's an elected appointment?

I wouldn’t say it is an ‘elected” appt, as you didn’t foresee Victoza being unavailable. I’m soon to run out of Victoza and have already spoken to my DN about alternative meds ie tablets. However I have opted to try diet only. I guess your DN wants to talk you through your alternatives too.
