This week I made the executive decision to stop takin the dreaded atorvastatin

Before thid Id bee on simvastatin and stopped because made me feel wired.

now after 5 yearsof atorvastatin I feel I can no longer deal with the muscle pains.
it took me this long to actually realise these satanic pills are my problem

any thoughts of the use ofststins and which are preferred?

Have you thought of buying plant sterols instead?

Did your cholesterol and lipids warrant statins?

Many people find they get improved levels from lchf. I eat the Meditereanean diet the vast majority of the time and my cholesterol improved with this.

I also had probs with myscles and chest pains from statins.. Every single one.

My leg pains continued until 10 days ago whenI was told a note was not put on my medical file and I was never informed in 2003 hat I was likely to be allergic to aspartane and sweeteners.
That it appears was the problem with my muscles. Since stopping fully for 7 full days of anything with artificial sweeteners, colourings or flavourings I am prety much pain free, sleep is good which was also affected. I had a day when I had to have a hypo stopper with artificial ingredients in it and the pains returned...

Fortunately giving up artificial chemicals was easy for me as over 95.% of my food is fresh.

There is a listing under NICE of all slternatives to statins but I will have to try and find the link for you..

Why were you prescribed statins in the first place? Was it, like me, the usual 'all diabetics should be on statins' even though my cholesterol was only 5.2? I was on Pravostatin but came off them primarily because they made me dizzy however they also made my BS levels rise to diabetic levels. My cholesterol and BS has now come down naturally since I've been eating low carb, full fat foods so I have decided that I will not take them again.

I like you was on atorvastatin for years before taking the decision to ditch them after reading all the negative press. That was around January 2014 but in December 2014 I had a stroke and was constantly taunted by the nursing staff and the doctors in my months stay in hospital about how silly I was to stop the statins. Can't know for sure if the events were related but doctors put me straight back on atorvastatin.
