Yep, we know what's it like. Getting a diagnosis of diabetes is so different from being sick, going to hospital, getting out and life goes on .... Diabetes stuff consumes a whole shelf in my fridge and a whole piece of cupboard space, parts of my car and, of course, my handbag. It is really stressful at the start but it all gets a whole lot easier down the track. The only things I have never got used to is not being able to finish anything I start and missing sleep.
And then there is your child that you put on a brave face for and support through all that is happening to them. It can be so frustrating when you think you are doing everything right and the meter reads 22 - or worse.... 2!
Anyway, Khaleb's had diabetes for 3.5 yrs now. I don't know if I've got better at managing it or it has got easier as he's grown. Maybe a combination of both. While he is well we cruise along fairly well and have found our routine that seems to work
