Toes with fungal infections

I had "moccasin" type Atheletes foot on both feet and one hand for years, The Lamasil and Canesten AF creams helped a lot but they would not fully clear it up even after three months of continual use.

I heard so many bad stories about the side effects of Terbafine tablets I decided to try everything else first.

Eventually I got it sorted by soaking my feet & hand in vinegar several times over a 3 week period. Sure, you smell like a chip shop for a while but I am now so glad to be rid of it after all these years it was easily worth the inconvenience.

If you Google "Athelete's foot cider vinegar" you will find a lot of info.

For the record, I just used regular malt vinegar, neat, and I don't have any other foot problems or neuropathy.

Just been looking at moccasin type Athletes foot photos- even found some in toenails and again I wonder. My foot condition was diagnosed as psoriasis by 2 separate dermatologists but it doesn't mean to say they are right. I found photos recently of Psoriasis palmoplantaris and thought that looked like my hands!! As it happens I have been using apple cider vinegar twice a day on the soles of my feet and on the toenails so maybe I should persist with this again as I have done it in the past. Can't see me sitting and soaking my feet (and hands) but will stick with just wiping them over as I am doing now. If it ever clears you will be the first to know!!
 
When I was diagnosed with diabetes, I was aware of my toe nail's fungal infection and used to powder with mycil. As part of my self management of my diabetes, I started to swim daily. The fungal infection has completely gone. Perhaps the mycil played an initial part, but I have no doubt that it was the daily swimming that sorted it. My feet have never looked so good. This might be the easiest solution rather than potions, creams and pills.
 
I have just been reading about a product called Terrasil and have ordered it from the US site as it was so much cheaper than from Amazon and delivery 1-2 days as they ship from EU. (Probably UK!!) Again I will report back!!
It's all natural and I have ordered the maximum strength one.

Now I must admit to not reading all the posts here but I had to share my experience.

I have had the dreaded fungal toe nail for 10 years. Its fortunately on my big toe and little toe on the same foot. A visit to the gp resulted in trying several types of oinment which whilst improved the condition did not restore my nail to full health and owhen I stopped it came straight back. My toe nails have seapated from the nail bed and is terribly itchy. Not nice as you all know. Good ol google......I found a forum and the cure...... listerine...yes the mouthwash. I have been using it now , neat, once a day for about a month. The itching has stopped and the nail is looking far less revolting. I have filled all the bad nail down also. I can see healthy nail growing which is a first. I'm very excited and actually feel like this is working. I will keep you all posted but really...give it a go!
 
The Terrasil worked great on my psoriasis and have ordered more as the little 14g tub was gone in a week. I have just bought some Listerine - the original one- and am using it twice a day. I will be so impressed if I ever see any healthy nail growing!!! I think my problem could be psoriasis toe nails . I will report back.
 
My partner was told by podiatrist to use "Vicks" but that she did not tell him that! He is using "Vicks" for a month now and toes looking good and feeling better, he has tried so many prescribed ointments , potions and creams and those recommended from chemists , health shops and even the vet! He was desperate ,

Good idea, is oily so will last better & survive a night or two of "forgetfulness". Listerine did nothing for me. Off to tesco tomorrow for some Vicks. Thanks!
 
The podiatrist told me I had athletes foot and a final toe nail infection in a nail I injured last year and had to be removed, as well as a verruca. She told me that she doesn't treat them and to go buy stuff from chemist.

I went to chemist and they refused to sell me anything and to go see GO for prescription! Why can podiatrist not just prescribe stuff?

But then again she told me I def didn't have neuropathy despite my symptoms...... later that week I was told I did have it following nerve conduction tests with a specialist.

I've tried the Vick and all it did was discolour my nails.(Tried the cider vinegar twice now without success) I've been nails doing the Listerine for about 3 weeks. My nails seem stronger i.e. they are not peeling off in paper thin bits. I haven't seen any other improvement. I suppose really if they are psoriatic nails I can't really expect any improvement. Am just trying out another cream, Dermalex for the psoriasis on my feet and hands and it is definitely changing things. The skin is far less red.
 
Try cleaning and dabbing your feet for 10 minutes once a day and see the improvements...
It is particularly good for fungal toe mails and for dry cracked feet.

1/4 cup of blue Listerine
1/2 cup warm water
1/4 cup vinegar
 
Debs diamond file recommended by my podiatrist for toe nails....

Surgical spirit better than white vinegar.. Also recommended by my podiatrist.. Just soak cotton wool and wipe over nightly....

Hard thickened toe nails also recommended to have thick layer of vaseline nightly..

My podiatrist says that following her advice has given me the best diabetic feet she sees...also helped by the fact I wear sensible shoes...

I was frustrated that big name chemical companies dropped Athlete foot powders, possibly they were not selling enough of the product.
I finally found a control for me which is cheap and easy to use.
Available from supermarkets Glen 20 surface spray disinfectant [ surprisingly made by the same company that made Mycil ] also available from Aldi their brand at a cheaper price. It is the Ethanol alcohol that does the job. I spray my feet first thing morning last thing at night. Once you have Athletes foot it is for life, but this fix works for me.

I would like to know from any other sufferers if this fix works for them.
