Hi all,
Today at 8pm I think I took 8u of Levimer rather then 18u by mistake. So what should I do? I am on 1 daily 18u dose of Levimer.
Take the additional 10u at 8am and then revert back to 1 shot of 18u at night.
Nothing just take the 18u at night as usual and run high during the day.
Any other recommendations?
Currently sat here stressing my brains out as I've never taken an incorrect dose in 40 years.
Thanks.
Unless you're going to stay up all night or you are 100% certain of the error, I wouldn't take any more before the full dose tomorrow evening and inthe mean time correct with your rapid insulin. Having said that, are your levels much/any higher than expected? Would you expect the missing basal to increase your levels rapidly over night?Hi all,

When in doubt miss it out.....just wait untill your next scheduled dose and start again...
Sometimes stuff like this just happens, I've had whole afternoons where it wouldn't drop below 10-12 (and there was only so many corrections I'd consider before getting scared it was all going to kick in at once when wasn't expecting it) - until much later in the evening. So took the usual 18u last night and woke with a BG of 8; levels won't budge from 8-10 no matter how many correction doses I take. I this linked to the basel mess up from Saturday night or the fact that I've been away from the gym for about 5-6 days or both?
Much better being high for a number of hours than dead. As mentioned by Shiba Park a few additional quick acting injections during the day. When I was on MDI (now on a pump) and really busy at night on a few occasions I couldn't remember if I had taken my Lantus. There was no way known I would risk a double dose. I certainly knew in the morning, I felt like *&^@ and had a number of short acting injections during the day as I was as high as a kite. Not necessarily good advice for a T1 that....
Rubbish...missing a dose in the circumstance me tioned would be a good enoughh reason....
Not necessarily? So it could be then....why is that Dr. ? Read any information leaflet that come with medicines and it says if u miss a dose do not double up and wait until the next dosage time....what do you think Dr. ?

Yeah sure ..5years on insulin...3 on humulin 70/30 ..2 on levimir nd novo rapid...ok?
Dont imagine about other peoples conditions...i take insulin because my pancreas packed upAgain no, I'd imagine you take insulin to overcome your bodys insulin resistance whereas the OP makes no insulin whatsoever hence my comment that yours wasn't necessarily good advice for a T1.
I keep mine in the fridge, one on top of the other, now my used grey Lantus pen is on top and will be in the morning when I swap it over with my green Lantus pen, which stays on top till night time, best system I've foundI purchased the INSULCHECK devices that clip on to the insulin pen to track time since last injection. I still sometimes forget to inject but at least I know when I last injected by looking at the timing device.
