Insulin
Hi all,

Hope you had a great Christmas and new years and the big D behaved itself for you!!!!

So I am travelling to Thailand soon and have a few questions regarding insulin.

Storing insulin.
1- Looks like some of the accommodation may not have AC or an in room safe so has anyone got any recommendations on how to keep spare pens cool and safe in the room whilst I am out and about, I don't want it to go off in the heat or get stolen.

2 - Any recommendations on waterproof cooling pouches for insulin for when I am out and about doing stuff like jet skis, or getting into the water.

3 - Also whenever I am out on holiday my levels seem to sky rocket even if I am active and moving more then at home, any ideas why? I am thinking I may increase my day basal and see.

4 - Should I avoid the buckets, I don't usually drink much anyway.

thanks

1) Storing insulin - frio bags are great and work by containing crystals which swell up when you put them in water and then gradually absorb heat when they recrystallize. So no need for a fridge for your insulin (assuming this is a short trip - less than a month)
2) put your frio bag in a sealable plastic bag? TBH they are designed to be put in water so I doubt it would matter if they got wet.
3) Stress related? Eating more? Mine tend to go lower so it just goes to show that we are all different and you have to work out what's best for your own body and metabolism. (I tend to find I get more hypos on holiday so would always recommend that you have plenty of glucose (or equivalent) with you.
4) Not sure what you mean by buckets?

I hope you have a great trip.
