Travelling with sensors in hot countries

I have had a Medtronic 780g with Guardian 4 sensors since May this year. I travelled by car through Spain in the summer, took loads of spare sensors with me as I was away for two months. However, on reaching my destination then found that half the sensors didn’t work. Initially couldn’t work out why but guessed it was the heat in the car. I was in a complete panic as my supplies wouldn’t have lasted, fortunately Medtronic Portugal sent me some spares but this has put me off travelling anywhere hot outside Europe with no back up. Does anybody have any tips on transporting spare sensors in the heat? Airlines are good in that you can take them separate to hand luggage but this doesn’t solve the heat problem.

I use Dexcom's, I've taken them to India, Malaysia, plus France & Germany in summer in upper 30's c with no issues and just storing them in suitcase.

I too use Dexcom and have never had any problems. I know my consultant is thinking of changing everyone to FS Libre 2+ so if anyone has any experience there it would be helpful.

I imagine you can probably get a cool bag to keep them in. I'm thinking of a Frio type one, but maybe even a lunchbag type would help with storing the sensors.

I recently spent 3 months travelling in South Asia - temperatures ranging from 18 degrees to 38 degrees.

On the advice of my consultant I took spare Guardian 4 sensors as I expressed worry over failures (as I expereienced regular failures here in the UK). I was amazed with my experience. Only couple of sensors failed.

I kept the sensors in the suitcase.

Thank you to all of you who have commented . Very useful! Maybe I was just unlucky. I have since bought a small cool/lunch bag so will try that out on my next trip.
