Thanks for the reply @noblehead I will try nuts, I love blueberries so will have them!
I was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on Sunday. It's pretty overwhelming and I'm scared and anxious about what I can and can't eat, right now I'm on 5 shots a day (2 long acting and 3 short acting) I'm eating 3 meals a day and checking my bloods correctly, the lowest result I have gotten so far is 5.2 and my ketones levels are at 0.0 I was just wondering what sweets or chocolate I vlild maybe have? Or can anyone recommend any snacks that I could have if I feel peckish? Thanks
May i welcome you to the forum, and reccomend a book by Dr Richard Bernstein " Diabetes Solution 4th edition" so very knowledgeable and helpful plus he's been t1 for over 55 yrs, cliveI'm only new to having type 1 diabetes but in the last few weeks I have found a few things that haven't really affected my bg! Crackers with abit of cheese, cheese strings and cucumber also sugar free jelly is a nice sweet treat!.. Not many things on my list so far but it's a start haha

Thanks for replying @azure I'm not fussy with what I eat I love fruit and sweet things, right now I'd love a small chocolate bar.
I'm just new to this so my doses are set to 6. I have not been taught carb counting and stuff yet and adjusting my insulin.
I also suffer from anxiety and depression and it's hard being 18 and having friends who don't really understand what's going on, feel pretty alone
haha i eat bags of it like them minieggs <3 #guilty but tastes so good;.I eat chocolateWhen I was first diagnosed, I didn't have any for a few weeks as i was busy getting used to carb counting and testing and injections.
You can either speak to your DSN about an appropriate amount of insulin to,cover a small bar of chocolate, or you could perhaps do what I do sometimes, which is to eat a bar on a walk or before exercising. Another thing I do is make a bar of chocolate last by having a piece or two at a time.
Push to be taught carb counting - it's crucial to good control (and to being able to vary your diet)
Amazon do it,your very welcomeHi, thank you I will look into finding that book. Any help/advice is much needed for us 'newbies'!
