Hi.. I have had trigger finger on my left ring finger for about a year now. Had physio. Didn’t help. Had a splint made of plastic that really did ease it had to use it for 12 weeks but once taken off still the same. And so painful once my finger was stuck. I’m now waiting surgery to release the muscle or whatever it is the gets stuck. It may be painful to wear something at night to stop your finger from getting trapped but once you’re asleep you don’t notice it. It’s helps so much for the morning. Keep pestering your physio or go who can refer you to the next level.Hi,
I know I’ve asked before on here if anybody has trigger finger, but as the one I have on my right hand is very painful I contacted my dr via the patches system asking for some painkillers for it. I now have an appointment with a physio in a few weeks. Had anyone else been referred to physio and did it help?
Yes left hand for me, sometimes it can be very painful for years even now. I don't know but I try to stretch it out, whether it's neuropathy as it's not just feet and my Pregabolin keeps pain down.Hi,

I believe they are completely different conditions @oconnorbp . Carpal tunnel is to do with nerve compression whilst trigger finger the tendon sheath is involved.Sorry some say it's carpal tunnel.
I had a trigger thumb on my left hand. I couldn't bend it unless I forced the knuckle. I was sent for an x-ray and was then referred to hospital. They gave me a steroid injection into the base if my thumb. This really worked for me, although I do still get some discomfort and have been left with a small lump. At the base of my thumb. Diabetics are more prone to trigger finger and I was told beforehand that the steroid injection may not work and/or may have to be repeated. I'm still ok after 4 yearsHi,

Hi there, sorry to hear about your trigger finger. I had it in both hands and my GP referred me to our local hospital where I got them released. It was done under a local anaesthetic so no pain. Afterwards for a couple of days it was a bit painful but they gave me painkillers and my hands were bandaged to protect them whilst healing. They healed quite quickly and that was nearly 10 years ago and “touch wood” they’ve been fine ever since. I got referred because physio hadn’t helped and my fingers were just stuck and the only way to release them was to loosen the ligaments so the fingers could move again. If yours is really painful try the physio first but then your Dr. will have to refer you for their release. I had mine done at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, they are hand specialists, I was very lucky. Any orthopaedic surgeon should be able to do it, but I hope the Physio works for you and you don’t need it. Good Luck.Hi,
