Trouble Getting Warm

Diabetes!! People who dont understand. Being overweight and hungry.
For the last few months, even before diagnosis I have found it impossible to get warm, I have been wearing 2 jumpers and a pair of leggings under my trousers and a blanket over me on the sofa and I still cant get warm. I get so cold I cant function and the only thing that warms me up is to get under my duvet, and I end up sleeping - for hours.
The reason this is puzzling is that a symptom of my underactive thyroid is that my "thermostat" seems to be broken, I used to be able to sit boiling whilst others were freezing, and vise versa, and I learnt to deal with that as I never got as cold as I do now.
Im not convinced this is particularly connected to diabetes, but at the same time Im not sure its not either.

My thermostat is broken too. Was diagnosed in Nov 2007, had a hysterectomy in Feb 2008 and went to New York in January 2009 and the temperature there was -10 degrees C, I haven't felt warm since.

I've mentioned to my GP that I'm always cold, had thyroid tests which according to my GP are normal (but don't trust what the UK says is normal). I'm just starting the menopause now and get hot flushes, but as soon as they have passed then I'm cold again.

Had hoped that when I was found to be vitamin D deficient, that this would solve my feeling cold, it sorted the feeling tired, but I'm still cold.

my problem is not that i am cold - i tend to always feel warmer than people around me. its just my feet that are stone cold and i find hard to warm up....i am guessing that is bad circulation as i also tend to get cramps in my lower limbs

My hands and feet are always cold. I've tried all sorts of gloves, thermal, leather, sheepskin, I'm having to wear 2 pairs of gloves and still my hands are like ice!

Hi, I am T1 and have an underactive thyroid ( was overactive had Radio iodine treatment then went overactive ) This all happened before being diagnosed T1. HCPs have said to me that both T1 and thyroid disease are autoimmune and are often connected. So Yes being cold, constipated, excess weight gain ( even if you diet ) hair loss and feeling very lethargic are symptoms. So I would get it checked out...........Hope you get on OK. Let us know.
