Hi all. Had another case of the dizzy-wobbles, but BG was reading 4.9
I thought 4 and under was the problem zone. I had a snack and BG now up to 6.3 but still feel like I'm on a boat.
Was it actually a hypo. Does 'low' vary from person to person at all?
What else might it be?

Karl

if you are bringing your BG down from high, a 4.9 could feel like a hypo..they are called false hypo..it should settle down
I would do what you did and eat something.

My doc said to me that when it feels I'm having one it could be a normal level it's just my blood sugar is used to being high. It tends to sort itself out

I have seen in a few cases that I get hypo type symptoms when my levels are dropping fast. I have done test before and been in the mid 5's. 30 Minutes later been into 3's.

I would say that if your body is telling you it isn't right then test, wait a bit and test again. That is the trouble with BG testing, it is a point in time snapshot and doesnt tell you anything about rates of change.

This can also go the other way. On Sunday after a superb bicycle ride around Grafam water. I had a hypo, after around 4 hours I was 2.4 !. It's the first time I've been so low and usually get symptoms at 4. This was after a pint of liquid sugar (Green King IPA ) and a wedge of toffee cake at 2pm. And a mega carb high breakfast. Normal insulin ratio did not seem to apply.. So I've added another page into the learning curve of the wild and wacky unpredictable world of diabetes

Sometimes when I'm into the 4s I may feel slightly spaced-out, yet I've been as low as 3.6 without any symptoms so it does vary quite a bit from day to day.
