Trust Me I'm a Doctor on HF diet

I read the comments too. They were excellent!

Perhaps we could start a letter writing campaign to the two doctors that includes our before and after lab results on the low carbohydrate high fat/ketogenic diet. :)

Coming to a BBC channel near you, the latest study on the effect of a High Fat diet on diabetes.

Enjoy the discussion that this might provoke.
There's a trailer for this under Health: Why eating a lot of fat is worse for men than women on the BBC website.
If that is what's on the programme, I certainly won't be watching it. They don't even know their macronutrients from each other - a hamburger is supposed to represent fat when it's mainly protein and carbs!

Interestingly the sample daily menu included a cheese and onion roll, a pork pie, three hash browns and a a can of full sugar cola ... as well a 3 eggs, cheese ,chorizo, belly pork and butter and 30 gms of nuts and not a vegetable in sight.unless you count a potato! . Looks like this is a high fat , high carb ,and high protein diet . Really proves nothing much and is the type of sloppy journalism which really annoys me.

My thoughts entirely, so they have no idea whether it was the high fat content, the high carb and sugar content or the high protein content that caused the reactions.

I know nuthing. Could I become a journalist? Could I be paid to write c**p? I would not like to earn my crust, though - that would interfere with my new lifestyle

The show seemed to say that eating fatty food makes it harder for the body to process carbs, but doesn't seem to increase the amount of fat in the body.

Of course, if you avoid carbs and sugary drinks there would be no blood sugar spike.

Having watched the portion of the show containing this item it looks like it was looking at a very specific thing and proved that point. Women (from the programme one woman) had improved blood sugar control after eating a high fat and carb diet plus 50% more calories than usual for 7 days. The one guy saw his blood sugar control worsen over the same period eating the same diet. How the hell they managed to surmise from this that a high fat diet is bad whilst ignoring the 50% extra food and the high carb part of the diet is beyond me. The fact that the female GP's blood sugar control improved markedly after the week was glossed over rather I thought.. also the fact that their body fat was unaltered was also dismissed rather quickly..
TMIAD used to be mildly interesting but seems to have gone a bit silly in the last couple of series. Has fame gone to Moseley's head a bit like Clarkson and co on the Grand Tour?

I am not sure what was the message from that section of the programme. Are women supposed to think "glad I am not a man or I wouldn't be ok on this terrible diet"?

Well if you take it to its logical conclusion it is that Dr Zoe Williams can eat a high fat high carb diet and get better control of her blood sugars after 7 days... after that any conclusions are severely suspect..

maybe she did eat a lot less than she usually did... and thats the reason why her blood glucose was better...
