Most of my BG control is by VLC diet. I do use 2 x 500mg Metformin. It has a minimal effect I suspect. Certainly doesn't drop my BG much overnight [ about 0.5mmol/l if that]
My doctor has allowed me to trial Metformin SR for a bit. Same dose , but I've changed my main meal from evening to midday and developed irritable bowel. I've no results yet to report, but I will. Yesterday, whilst still having taken the "normal " Metformin in the morning, I went to Cotswold Wildlife Park for the day with Daughter and grandchildren. Walked All day, with a stop for a salad at about 1:30. Gave in to temptation in the afternoon and had an ice cream. BG reached the dizzy heights of 5.2! 2 hours later. Still lunch was carb free.
My new experiment is to try to break my 2 year weight loss stall with Atkins shakes. All other brands have too much sugar. will report on that too.

I've been on 3 standard MF daily for years. Lately my overnight reading has been drifting up from below 6 to just below 7. I've been trying the slow release version to see if it helps. There is some improvement. I need to analyse the results.
