Trying to conceive

Had hba1c taken again on Monday came back at 7.8% again but I was happy that it at least didn't increase! She wants to get me down to 6.8% and give me the go ahead at the summer. Fingers crossed! How's everyone else getting on?

I'm gonna be the odd one out in this thread as I'm t2 and diagnosed three months ago now. My husband and I go for our first infertility appointment on Thursday, after three years of trying with nothing happening . I guess I'm kinda lucky they referred me so soon after diagnosis, although my diagnosis came as part of the investigations Into why things weren't happening.

My hba1c in December was 6.7 and I have to do my next one one Wednesday. The app I log my bgs on has estimated that it should have come down to 6.5 but I'm not too sure how accurate the app is, so I wait and see.

Anyway I actually only wanted to say good luck gals and I'm in the club with ya, and know the pitfalls of trying to conceive - word of warning it can take over your life!
 
I took some blood in but it got rejected by the lab as in was within 3 months of my last HbA1c. Which was very annoying! So will have to have ut done again after Easter and get it voided so they will process it. I had my implant out 3 weeks ago and getting concerned that I have not had a period get. Knowing my luck I'll get the go ahead and then won't be able to conceive.
 
Don't worry Amy, it took me 6 weeks after getting the coil out to have a period. I had what a think was a withdrawal of contraception bleed. After 2 weeks, but I was still on the mini pill at that point. Give it time.

Also, why would it be voided if it hadn't been 3 months? That sounds silly? My diabetes centre said I will have monthly hba1c tests when I start attending the preconception clinic after my appointment in April? Surely it would still have an affect and be able to see if your hba1c has changed? X X X
 
I think it was because the form I got didn't have the so called don't void mark or something so hopefully when I'm back from holiday I can have it checked. I so wanted to start trying during my holiday but HbA1c and zika virus in Thailand has put a haunt to that idea. Your right I need to be less inpatient....im so broody it hurts.
 
It's all very well for me to say now @Amy.W!! I was exactly the same till it came and I breathed a sigh of relief that my body was working!! Seems to be working better than before as I had pcos, but a scan over the summer show some cysts but not as many as before. And my period was exactly 28 days from withdrawal bleed, so hoping I may have some form of cycle! They say pregnancy can sort some conditions, so hopefully my little boy helped this! I know how u feel... Babies everywhere at the moment!

Don't stress, relax and enjoy your holiday!

@Amy.W the chemicals in the coil can take a little bit to leave your system. Be gentle on yourself. Stressing will only make the wait more unbearable.
That was strange about your HbA1c obviously somebody thought it was a regular HbA1c quarterly test. Hopefully it will be sorted easily.
 
Girls, it feels so good to talk to people in the same boat as me!ye never know by the end of this year we could all be pregnant!I really hope so! It's so upsetting everytime someone I know announces their news.although I am genuinely happy for them it's very hard because I can never see it happening for me. I'm married nearly 2 years now and soooooo sick of people asking when am I having children. Even my boss said it to me recently I'd want to hurry up as I wasn't getting any younger (I'm 31)

I am going to a preconception clinic and they give me monthly hba1c tests. My last 2 were 7.8, she will give me the go ahead at 6.8%. Good luck to ye too!
 
monthly hba1c's?! Oh dear, I guess I'm gonna be a pin cushion lol. It would be good if we were all preg by the end of the year.

I think I'm the oldest in this thread (mid 30's,yes I've gotten to that age you no longer want to admit to lol), however in this age is irrelevant only what's causing the problems/looking after our condition and ttc.

Choosing when to have kids is a very personal decision between you and your hubby. Don't let it get to you.

We're all here and we all understand the strains and struggles look after yourself and the rest will come.
 
Sound advice @RoseofSharon !I've been looking at pregnancy forums for a while but took me a bit to cop on to this site, find it so much better as folk on ordinary forums don't know much about hba1c 's and the lark (which is obviously fair enough!)

Spiked today after lunch to 18.3 , think I know why though. My metformin dose has been increased to 850mg from 500mg and it's making me so sick!so I reduced the dosage today and what do you know I got a high result!

Ya the hba1c is every 4-6 weeks,it's grand though!
 
I started this thread and may be the eldest on it! Im 33. Lol. My metaformin was increased from two tabs to four due to insulin resistance and its made a massive difference. Getting impatient with not falling pregnant though! My BMI is 27 so need to bring it down. Good luck to you all xx
 
I'm so hoping my HbA1c has come down. I am allowed to try at 7. Started bleeding today...never been so pleased to see the red stuff! Although doesn't seen to be a full blown period but a good sign. I think I find it hard as if I wasn't diabetic I would have started trying over 2 years ago. So jealous of none diabetics. Thank you lovely ladies for your support. It's amazing. Can't wait to share our journeys together.
 
I know someone who was young, healthy and had no issues whatsoever. She carried her baby full term and then it died before she even gave birth. This has really helped put things into perspective for me... There are so many horror stories about diabetes and pregnancy on the net, yet there are twice as many positive stories with happy endings. I am no longer allowing diabetes to control my mind and my life. Everything really does happen for a reason no matter how cliche that sounds. The best thing to do is be kind to yourself, love life and live to the fullest, doing good deeds every day. It's best to leave the rest up to fate. Everything will fall into place and there will be a silver lining or a happy ending at the end of the rainbow for us all.
 

Lol no you're definitely not the eldest! Let's just say I'm slightly older.

However I had my appointment today. not good! Basically about the only thing the dr was happy with was we no longer smoke and my hba1c. Apparently I and hubby seem to both have problems.
 
I hope they can be sorted @RoseofSharon At least they know what the problems are rather than just saying it's unexplained.

Thank you @azure. It was only the first appointment but I came away feeling quite down after it. *sigh* guess I just have to carry on. At least though we're not still wondering, and we're being taken seriously.
 
Sorry to hear that @RoseofSharon what's the next step(hope you don't mind me asking and apologies if youd rather not say) I'm starting my Dapne course Monday 4th of April, I'm praying it helps bring down the hba1c
