Tubeless pumps

Hi ... I'm a late onset Type1 and have been quite happily using the Freestyle Libre and Libre2 sensors for many years, initially self-funding. I'm interested in moving from MDI to a tubeless pump insulin delivery. I'd be interested to hear of others' experiences in going down that route, including diabetes clinicians support for the initial on-boarding and subsequent ongoing support.

Welcome to the forums,

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with a tubeless pump as I use a tubed pump. I do wonder though, is this something you are going to be funding yourself? I'm not sure where you're from but in the UK at least to qualify for an insulin pump through the NHS you have to fit the NICE criteria and even if you do not every hospital offers tubless insulin pumps.

I am an Omnipod Dash user. I would concur with Nicola M you first need to find out what pumps are available locally and if you would be eligible for a pump. The DSN Team locally should be able to help you with that.

Moving from MDI to pump can be quite intensive. Getting the basal correct for you can be challenging and will take time and commitment.

I f you have any questions about Omnipod please ask.

Good luck with this.

Hi @leadwelly As said above, your first step is to speak to your DSN to ask about their process for gaining access.

If your interested Omnipod offer a trial pod for you to wear and see how you get on, have a look at their website. I personally have issues with adhesive so opting for a trial first is wise to see if it agrees with you.

Hi, I agree with other comments, you need to find out what is available to you.

I started on Omnipod 5 2 months ago and am really happy. My time in range has increased to 85%.

I was on the Libre 2 and changed to Libre 2 plus when I started on Omnipod 5. After 4 weeks I changed to Dexcom 6 and that has been a game changer for me. Much better connection with the pod and the benefit of 2 Bluetooth channels, which means I am back on the app and can connect to my Apple Watch. You do have to carry both the controller and your phone with you but I feel it is worth it.

Hi HellyMac

Interested to read your comments. I will be moving to Omnipod 5 sometimes soon, no exact date as yet. You mention moving to dexcom 6. Would you be willing to share why this change was made and if this is being funded by yourself.
Hope you do not mind me asking these questions

Thanks
