Type 1: Control?

Taking over as diabetic lead for a GP does not mean they have good knowledge.., it jyst means they are the GP responsible for hitting tge diabetic targets at that Practice that are forced upon them by the NHS etc. To get payments they must hit targets for DES, QOF, CQC guidelines etc... he will have been selected to be the doctor for tjis responsibility.

It does not make him have any extra knowledge than any other GP in that Practice.

If a T1 wants good care and knowledge they must go to a hospital and consultant care....

Totally agree with all the above. In fact the doctor I referred to would probably be the first to acknowledge he has a lot to learn... but in relative terms he will be the best informed GP in the practice. He's already light years ahead of my previous surgery who nearly killed me with their incompetence.

What I wanted to convey is that he appears to have the right attitude to get the best outcome for the patient and the surgery DO refer you to the specialists rather than try and do everything 'in house'. Admittedly a sample size of just 1 though!

Hopefully the OP can see this GP and get the diagnosis he needs and thereafter the correct referrals and treatment.

Regards.
