Hi everyone ,

I feel very emotional regarding my diabetes . I feel overly stressed all the time and I don't know what to do .

I just wish I had a friend on here to talk to who is going through the same feelings as me . X

Hello @Coffee_Lover It's pretty normal to have feelings of anxiety with managing a needy condition like type 1 which requires continual management. Fluctuating blood glucose levels can impact on your mood too, so keeping stable is a good way to help manage your feelings of anxiety. A good exercise to practice when your feeling stressed is to just focus on breathing, so breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breath out for 4 seconds and hold for 4 seconds, just count it on your fingers and keep doing it, it will help you to relax by just focusing on the breath.

I also recommend walking/exercising, it helps to calm the mind, and of course talk to others to lighten the load.

Sometimes it can all get on top of us, and we just want a day off! This often happens when BG’s not behaving well, or when we’re stressed.
How long is it since these feelings started, or have you always felt like this about T1?
I think as well as the breathing exercise @Juicyj suggests (an alternative is to count steadily to 5 while inhaling and again while exhaling), doing something you enjoy that demands your complete attention takes your mind to a different place.
The tech available now that lets us follow BG minute by minute can also mean that it’s always in your face and on your mind.
Have a day off? Test if you feel too high or too low - and before driving of course - but apart from that have a day, or two, when you give yourself a (sensible) break?
And see a film, listen to some good music, see a bit of wildlife, dance, or whatever makes you happy.
