@SWUSA, Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you are suppose subtract dietary fiber from total carbs to get final count of carbs? ThanksYes, but here in the USA carbs are reported net of fiber and so I have experienced a larger than expected rise in BG sometimes. So sort of the opposite of your discovery of over assessed carbs I think some here are understated.

I am not aware of any restaurants which give carbohydrate values. They give the options of vegitarian and gluten free, but not for us! I use the carbs and cals book and have the ap on my 'phone - very helpful.
To the OP: how many units would he have taken based on the nutritional info given by the restaurant. You said he took half that much which turned out to be correct. What was your "gut feeling" when you did the calculation? Did you think it was way too much? I rarely get nutritional info in restaurants, maybe total calories. I usually go by gut feelings and experience.
There is now a petition online for all restaurants to list carb values.. last I saw it only had 500 signatures.
A GP Joanne Mccormack is very interested and runs a lot of info courses on liw carbing. She has facebooked the petition out to people asking for signatures.
