Any advice for exercise as a T1 diabetic on Novarapid and Lantus regime? My doctors state that my glycogen stores are pretty depleted, thus am suffering with awful blood sugar crashes from even walking for thirty minutes

I am on the waiting list for a pump, so I'm.curious as to what you guys do to keep your blood sugars stable both on and off a pump?

Thanks

I walk for 1 hour in the evening....I reduced my NovoRapid before meals dose but eat a banana just before walking without insulin. It's seems to balance my glucose really well. I posted something similar last week...I think the lesson is trial and error. Every one is different..

If your doctors are saying you glycogen stores are depleted I'm not sure how they know that, but I would imagine it's a pretty logical assumption from your blood sugar crashes. Your muscles want to use glycogen when you move. The easiest, simplest way to replenish your stores is just to eat some carbs. You could do something nice and low GI and complex. If you are really dead set against eating carbs you could try a decent amount of protein, but it won't be as efficient.
