Hello friends
Hoping for some reassurance/ guidance / support.
I’m 35 have been a type 1 diabetic for 27 years.
Did a recent blood test and my EGFR was 76 and creatinine was 85. I’ve attached my last 2 years results too. My endocrinologist and GP have never raised any kidney concerns.
I saw a specialist today just for reassurance because kidney health is something I worry about (health anxiety) and she said anything between 60-90 even without protein is stage 2. Now I’m really freaking out - how was this missed!
She also mentioned the EGFR might be slightly lower due to my weight?? I could loose maybe 5-10kg

If this specialist that you met with yesterday left you worried, please do contact her and ask for clarification.

I kept telling her I was worried. I was crying too because I felt like my endos that I’ve seen, my gp have never flagged this with me :(
I ask them every single appointment - are my kidneys ok and they have all said YES!

Mountain out of mole hill makers ,queues , crowds , shopping on a Saturday hmm just shopping I guess no matter what day it is
I’m not too sure about all the different numbers , but the number I am concerned with is % kidney function , at the mo mine is at 12 % it went down to 1 % following leg amputation and contracting sepsis . My function has been between 14% and 12% for about 5 years and I feel ok bit tired at times but I’m getting older too, dialysis level is below 10 % , I do realise that it’s not if but when , it doesn’t bother me just have to get on with it , saying that it doesn’t mean that all diabetics will suffer my fate , I abused my body diabetically for years , but 42 plus years, of T1 , still hear singing and dancing ( well , not actually doing the Saturday night fever bit lol) and getting on with life ,
I would echo others thought that if the numbers are bothering you just speak to the “ powers” that be to put ur mind at rest
