Type 1 - Sugar Addiction

I'm a T1 since the age of 11 and have been for 7 years. Before my diagnosis I wasn't a fan of sweet things and didn't crave them. I've never been able to control my diabetes because ever since I have insane cravings for things that are high in sugar - full fat coke being the main culprit. Recently I have cut down the sugar but now struggle to sleep and am constantly lethargic, does anybody have any advice or help for me please? I I know that this addiction is not good for me and needs to be sorted once and for all. Thanks all for reading and for any replies!

Hi. As you are probably aware sugar is addictive and addictions vary between individuals. I can only suggest that you gradually come off sugary food and drink over a period of weeks. I think you will find that gradually you will get used to lower levels. Why don't you have diet Coke?

No it's not good for you and better that you stopped.

I think I read somewhere that if you quit sugar it takes your body 66 days to stop craving it! Strong willpower and its achievable....write your aim everywhere to remind you and the reasons why you should stop.
