Hello all

I am off to Mexico soon and annoyingly my usual M&S insurance has declined to cover me this time as I have eye surgery booked for when I return...

It's only minor but diabetes related...

Has anyone had this happen before? Would it be unwise to pretend I have cancelled the op? Anyone got any insurance recommendations?

Any advice much appreciated.

I am 35, type 1 and use a pump.

Hi @jevans82 I don't think it would be advisable to withhold information about your operation. If you do need to claim on the travel insurance the insurers will probably check your medical records and failure to disclose will invalidate any claim.

I use insureandgo, and you can get an online quote on their website.

@jevans82 It would be extremely unwise to withhold information as you'd invalidate your insurance.

Shop around for a company that covers pre-existing conditions. I use All Clear and have used them a number of times:

There are other companies too, so see what suits you.

Most insurers won't cover anything within 6 months of having or planning to have an operation when travelling. Some may just charge an extra premium
