Type 1's live till their about 80?

I'me sure I heard recently that the average life expectancy had reached its peak and is now going back down ,it had to happen didn't it .

What a load of nonsense. Like any other human, lifelong health, fitness, diet and any other life limiter comes in to play. In addition, I am 60 and have been type 1 for nearly 50 years; another 60 year old may have just been diagnosed.

Love your attitude ,

I think one of the positives for me anyway is that having diabetes teaches you that you have to look after yourself watch what I eat exercise etc, so in that respect I may live longer .
I was diagnosed T1 45 years ago and have been on insulin all that time. Then I was told that my life expectancy would be 20 years less than non diabetics.
I've tried hard to stay fit and healthy and my HbA1C's have always been good. Having Freestyle Libre for a couple of years has been brilliant. My TIR is 84 %, I do yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi.
I'm 78 years old and walked 7 miles yesterday and 11.5 miles today, lots of hills. I guarantee I'm a lot healthier than many people younger than I am and I aim to stay that way. ️‍
