Type 1's live till their about 80?

I read today a comment on line that said that Type 1 Diabetics generally live to about the age 80. I do not know what the source for this information is or whether such a comment can be authenticated? Anyone have any more insight into this? If it's true, I ain't got much longer to go!?
What a load of nonsense. Like any other human, lifelong health, fitness, diet and any other life limiter comes in to play. In addition, I am 60 and have been type 1 for nearly 50 years; another 60 year old may have just been diagnosed.

I shall be 82 next month and diabetic since 1954 at age 10.I was boasting at how well I was just before my 80th birthday when I ended up on hospital with AKI,a month later I was having an emergency pacemaker fitted.Last month I had a bi ventricular pacemaker fitted as my heart failure is now severe.
Fortunately my feet and eyes are fine and I'm glad I've lived so long and seen some amazing things during my lifetime.
I control my diabetes ,it doesn't control me.
Love your attitude ,
