Yes, it frustrated me, but it has only been misbehaving for a few days, I think your diabetes acts a bit more pesky than mine . I fully agree with the divorce part though! But if that isn't possible I'll just keep my fingers crossed both of our diabeteses will behave for the next week before pulling tricks again

Have a good, if wet and windy Sunday (weather, not your lovely selves) and give T1 the bird whenever it deserves it.
 
A sudden sore wrist forced me out of bed hours before I had planned to get up this morning. When I woke up it was impossible to find a position in which it didn't hurt way too much to fall back asleep, so I took a small dose of insulin and 2 paracetamols and tried again but the pain wasn't impressed by the paracetamol so I got up.

No idea what went wrong with it. Yesterday there was nothing wrong with it, apart from it not liking me putting my whole weight on my hand an a funny feeling like a tendon slipping over something a couple of times, today it hurts enough to almost get nauseous, no matter what I do.

Bad timing too, I had planned to cook for 4 days and already did all the shopping. But there is just no way I can peel and chop onions, prepare string beans, garlic, ginger and cut meat.
Lucky to have a friend who simply tells me to stop whingeing, get Chinese take away an put the planned meat in the freezer
I'm also quite good at driving without using 3rd and 5th gears, and generally not changing gears much, and at typing with one finger

And yes, I do feel sorry for myself, pain is stupid and I can't even roll a cigarette without making funny noises

Definitely. I'm having a day at home sorting out paperwork as it's way too horrid to go out. Just having a break before tootling back upstairs to deal with bank statements and receipts.

Think I may well be on a DAFNE course soon, I have an unexpected nurses appointment at the clinic next week and I can only think it's about that.
 
It is tiring and stressful, the manager is quite demanding. One of the staff on friday made it more bearable, like the 4 hours didn't seem too bad. Thankfully no complaints and it was more organised than Thursday. Thank you, I know, I need a drivers license but I've declared hypo unaware to my DSN hence being considered for a CGM.
 
I am looking for something else, I know it's already difficult without a car and a full degree so I can't expect anything too comfy. But I'm sure there's something that isn't as bad as standing for 4-5 hours and less awkward because I don't speak Thai. I don't know about everyone else, I find it a bit awkward when majority of the staff are speaking Thai and sometimes they do comment on the newbies in Thai which I find a bit rude.
 
Hi all, v busy few days so not been around much, just catching up. @Antje77 the wrist thing sounds horrid - I've got something called de Quervain's syndrome which is a specific type of tenosyonovitis in your wrist. I can feel the tendons catching in the sheath where it runs donw to my thimb. Had several steroid injections which have helped massively, but that came on over time rather than as quickly as you describe. Have you been doing any really repetitive things that may have triggered it? Or slept on it awkwardly? Hope it passes 'cos that kind of sick pain is truly horrid.

Hope everyone else is making the most of a very variable weather day; here in Somerset it's definitely sunshine & showers, pretty windy, but still quite warm.

The advertisement states they would prefer to recruit someone with experience, but preference given to those with diabetes or diagnostics experience.

It's really, really important that you understand anyone recruiting for role will have a wish list. There may me some mandatories on their wish list, but as someone who has employed/recruited/managed many, many over the years, it is very rare indeed that you find a candidate who ticks every one of those boxes.

Now, in this particular role, it would seem likely that the ability to drive is pretty mandatory, as that's likely to be what would get the employee to their meetings.

Lots of skills can be learned (obviously) and much depends on how any individual scores on their application and interview.

In the past, I have rejected applicants who, on paper look fab, but whom I knew wouldn't get on with other important employee who would be their colleagues. Equally, I have recruited people who look scant on their CVs, but they had energy, enthusiasm and the ability to learn.

Personally, I made a point of never recruiting anyone who could do (or stated they could do) everything on the job description from day 1, because it's either highly likely they're fibbing, or alternatively, if they're going from one job to the next, they'll likely get bored quickly. (Someone relocating might be that exception to that personal rule.)

Sometimes, we just need to go for it, and make applications. Let's face it, the worst that can happen is we're rejected, and if we already know we're maybe not the best fit, there's nothing to be upset about.

I admire your enthusiasm for working in the food industry, but it wouldn't be for me.

On a final note, it's easier to find a job when you're in a job. It's just the way it seems to work.

It is. Looks like I have a lot to learn when it comes to pain, but I'd rather not. It gives me a horrible mood, I want my mother, I laugh about my own antics (the only good part in my reaction to the pain) and I keep fiddling with the arm to try to get more comfortable or to check if it's better already, both making it worse.

Yuck! I'm sorry for you, but very glad it doesn't sound the same!

Thanks, fully agree!

Will have a beer, more paracetamol in an hour and again before bed. May add an ancient dusty 50mg tramadol tablet found at the bottom of a drawer before sleeping. It expired in march 2013, but being a 'real' painkiller it should have a strong placebo effect even if it doesn't do anything anymore. (disclaimer: don't try this at home folks, it's not recommended)

I found a couple of 2016 ones as well
Did you know capsules get deflated over the years? Found a leaflet on the internet as well, saying you can have up to 8 per day so I decided to take one now and add another before bed if nothing bad happens.
If I start making even less sense than usual in an hour, you'll know the cause

Almost completed the Battle of the Filing - it does make the tax return easier if I have the paperwork organised! (Not that I need to do the tax until January, but still, I'd like some holiday time at Christmas after the organist duties are complete and I have other plans for half term.)

Nice for the enthusiasm for that to coincide with the lack of enthusiasm for setting foot outside. It doesn't often happen that way.

Back on the double insulin on a Sunday morning. Still, I rescued 5 used test strips from between the organ pedals this morning. Oops...
