Type 1'stars R Us

Oh don't you just hate the inconsistency of type 1. Yesterday I had a BG of 6.8 at 7 am and had 30 g of carbs and by 11 am it was sitting at 9.2. This morning I woke to a 7.4 and by 10.30 this morning it was at 5.9

I have eaten the exact same thing, taken same amount of insulin done the same thing, sitting on my large bottom working on spreadsheets

If only it would be consistent........................

Totally agree with you.... BUT its is social media and I tend to not let fly with my sarcasm any more. We can only try and help/assist people on our experiences
 
Ho Hum............Caught the Brekky Spike seems that 11:00-11:15 is the optimal time which make it 4 1/2 hours, which is nice.

Not had many Hypo's out and about fortunatly and most have been on the mild side. The one last November was bad, own stupid fault, para medics came round for a chat and stick nearly a 100mls of sugary glucsoe solution in a canular (hate them) plus a jam butty and even then only just crept up to the mid 5's. However the muscles in my back really really really hurt ended up going to the docs and got some heavy pain killers. Fortunatly all cleared up within a few days.

Mind you you know it is not good when the paramedic says to OH "Are you next of kin?" I was out of it.
 
Had couple of bad hypos when I was first diagnosed in early 1980's. Just after I had been diagnosed, my girlfriend ,now my wife, and another couple decided to go away for the day to cheer me up. Once we arrived in the town, I said I was feeling a little low, no blood tests back then. Next thing I remember is sitting up on a bench with friends all around me and this stuff in my ear and I was all wet, no I did not pee myself.

Apparently we were outside a shop and there was only 1 puddle in the street, so guess who went head first into the puddle. They ran into shop told shopkeeper I was diabetic and needed sugar quickly. He gave them a bag of sugar and they were literally pouring granulated sugar into my mouth. of course I was struggling and this was also going into my ears.

A few months later I was working down in London near Christmas and felt low. Told my mate I was feeling low. Went into Woolworths to buy some chocolate. Next thing he sees is an ambulance pulling up outside Woolies and me getting carted out. Apparently I had walked into Woolies and a guy had just finished creating this huge masterpiece, a box of chocolates display. Guess who went head first into the display and ruined it.

I was off - 'sick leave', no idea what job you have but I would have quite happily have swapped with you - although TBH I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy!
 
Don't know what's going on today. Woke at 8.5 but just took my usual 1 unit because I knew it would fall while I was shuffling wheelbarrows to / from horses. BG at 5 when I left horses so took couple of haribos. 10 mins later got into office and could feel legs going wobbly = 1 x bottle of Tropicana as it was nearest sugary thing! Did nothing different to normal so no idea where the hypo came from. Even lowered tresiba 1/2 unit a few days back to deal with the heat.

Nearly my 1 year anniversary and it feels like I'm still a complete novice at this whole diabetes thing.

It will become easier and you'll be a pro in no time, 20+ yrs in and yes I'm a pro..........just haven't yet found in what though! (Honestly it will become more manageable)

Afternoon all, I don’t have any amusing hypo stories to share. I never had interesting pregnancy cravings either Disappointment reigns.

Despite injecting more insulin than I felt comfortable with last night, and assuming the alcohol of my errant wine would possibly hypo me in the wee hours, I was rather disappointed to find I’d spent the entire night at around 13mmol - so that went well. I’ve got it down to around eight now but it’s a slow process!
 
Hypos........ like so many of you I’ve probably forgotten more than I can remember.
Notable ones in brief.
Trying to leave house via upstairs window.
The bananas.
Sex with a red hot radiator.
Top of nose reattached by a good looking nurse whilst crying.
He’s not dead his belly is going up and down.
Concrete dextrose.
The list goes on.

46 years for me and I still learn something new every week. Still confuses me on times. BUT I am still here after all that time, so I class myself as a winner
Just waiting for @Knikki to come and trump me on his length of service to the T1D cause
