Type 1'stars R Us

Good afternoon, a mixture of sun and showers today, the weather can't make it's mind up, a bit like my BG's sometimes
Off on the school run very soon, 5 children now ( the new child was, in his words, kicked off the other taxi, but doesn't know why ) and is proving to be very challenging, but I take deep breaths and try to think of nice thoughts. So, into battle I go ....................

Rain today, and very welcome. Autumn threatened to be too early for some trees that were entering dry weather survival mode.
Phone consultation with the Consultant was good, and it was great to hear him well and vibrant as he’d been working on a Covid pending ward during the height of things down here, people waiting for test results and ill enough with Covid or something else to be in hospital. Tests were invariably positive.
It’s younger daughter’s turn to wait for a test result now: primary school - grandsons, secondary school - her husband, Uni meetings - herself, shopping - Aldi, distanced outdoor meetings - a very few friends. Family finger crossing.
Favourite fruit: raspberries, pears, sweet gooseberries, cox apples, the yellow custardy insides of fresh locust beans, mango.
 
Mornin’, not much planned today but must pick up meds for me and cat and get more veg and cat food. Exciting times. I had a glimpse of pre-Covid cheer yesterday. A small cat, about 6 months old, with a snazzy collar on, had turned up at the Lidl entrance by the car park. I had a lovely time touring the nearby houses to try to trace its owner and save it from the cars. I distance met lots of nice, varied people. One guy thought I was his mates mum, who he owed money to, and nearly gave me £140. Oh my. I loved it all and realised how much I need to have a more vibrant future.
Bloods good, though, mustn’t grumble.
I’ve downloaded the NHS Covid-19 app: level here Medium. Mustn’t grumble. Younger daughter still waiting for test result.
 
Hi all, yesterday disappeared in a blur of errands and chores. Why do I still have such a long to do list?

Well yesterday brought forth some very exotic fruit favourites, gives glimpses @Fairygodmother of your very interesting life overseas, and how different growing conditions and food availability are in different parts of the world. Stating the obvious I guess, but still fascinating to hear it.

I watched Ambulance last night; I think of you every time I do @LooperCat, hope you're staying safe and things are going okay.
 
Got to snorkel yesterday, gorgeous day and ended up exhausted by the time we got out over 2 hours later. It is so nice I got to stay out until I was tired versus having to get out. Went in at a 7.7 and left at a 5.8! My BG really behaved itself, I wish I knew why lol!

All going well, my current crew are great! I’m actually beginning to feel like a bit of a paramedic now, although there’s still a loooooooooong way to go. I’ve been “in charge” with my mentor in the background if I need her on quite a few jobs now, and appear to have acquired the nickname of “The Diabetes Queen” having advised a few patients on better testing techniques and so forth. Still wish I’d done it years ago, but we all have 20:20 hindsight, eh! Nights tomorrow, they’re often fun

I had three people suggest yesterday I should be officially promoted to "Specialist Diabetes Support" and be paid more! Whilst the Young Vampire is not in my group, I've been helping support the new staff on that team - especially with the stubborn 2.30 p.m. lows. (I've had my say on why this is a consistent problem, I can only follow the protocol) as we have different end of day procedures this year, and our groups are in the same waiting area, so I am immediately on hand for advice and tipping of the 2nd bottle of Full Fat Coke down if hypo stubbornness has kicked in.

Then, there are the two I am officially supporting who have diabetes as part of their syndromes. Actually, they're both really easy to help diabetes-wise in comparison to the Young Vampire. Just fascinating medically.

Just today to get through before we can say we've survived a full week of students for the first time in 6 months. I think we're all going to sleep well tonight.
 
Morning all, off for blood test this morning for this year's much-delayed annual review. Then off to Yeo Valley farmwith a friend to go round the organic garden and whatever else is on offer. You have to book a slot, so I imagine it'll be well-controlled you-know-what wise. So if you're shopping today or look in your fridge and see Yeo Valley milk, yoghurt, whatever, think of me 'cos I'll be where they make it! Have a good day all whatever you're doing.
 
Good morning all. I’m having a ‘do what I like’ day today, but I think it’ll be partly spent deciding what to do. Plenty I ought to do, but . . .
 
went for mine yesterday hh1 and have a phone consultation next week .
 
Good afternoon, all I can say is TGIF so I will have a nice quiet weekend...................then it's Monday ( not great on the school run this afternoon, tensions )

Yep, I've got a phone consultation in about 10 days. No foot checks then, and with PAD I'd like that - but I'm struggling with scar tissue following surgery on my foot, used to see podiatrists regularly prior to Covid, phoned and got an appointment with them next week so hopefully they'll check all that out.
 

I do like Yeo Valley plain yogurts! I shall get some tomorrow.

They have a small shop on-site and all their dairy stuff is half price - I'm taking a cold bag next time! I did buy a few things but I'd've loved some ice cream......

I understand from our lot all the taxi runs are all really difficult at the moment. What used to take 15 minutes getting them all out, other than late-running taxis/whoever is collecting is now taking 45 minutes in our social-distancing policies. We've had to start being ready 20 minutes earlier just to try to keep it all safe from our point of view. And that's with having split them up across four possible exits rather than the one main one and the smaller main-ish one for those who needed the quieter exit.
 
Good morning all, from the sound of it the weekend is a very welcome respite for some. Enjoy it, whether it means just a bit of peace and quiet, a long lie in, a solo or friended walk while the rain holds off, fruit collection, a long lazy bath, a glass of wine . . .
Porridge for breakfast this morning. Autumn’s here. So glad I got those yellow wellies!
6.1 on waking, a triumph after yesterday was a day of big doses for highs due to recurrent thing I get (makes Ronnie Barker gesture with hands but can’t be bothered to don the headscarf and handbag).
 
Yippee! I do not have to venture into any shops for more fleeces today! Now it's getting colder I can't quite get by on the current in-use collection. The lockdown inactivity weight gain is slowly receding and the fleeces I'd retired temporarily have been bought back into use again. Not quite there for the pre-lockdown work jeans, but getting closer.

There is a high level of stupidity out there and I am definitely safer at home. Apparently, I am a stupid person for believing in Covid being real, I need to get a life, and I am not meant to object to poor, innocent slow runners breathing heavily behind me as they are unable to move slightly further away from me (this is on the 2 metres wide path I was on the edge of, with no-one walking toward me, that cuts across the park it takes me 10 minutes to walk across!) and I am not meant to move unexpectedly as I am trying to work out what the heck is going on with the heavy breathing I can hear over the music coming through my non-music leaking earphones.

Never mind, I am home, with well-behaved blood sugars after a week of normal activity levels, totally returned to pre-March ratios all round and apart from the usual Sundays blips, they've been good for days now. I'll take that as a win and please can they stay that way until my consultant's appointment in early October. (Far as I know, it's face to face, I am so excited!)
